total shock. i cant believe it. condolences arent enough but obviously my thoughts are with the connections tonight.

Does anyone know what the ground is like? How much rain have they had?
Is the *** running tomorrow?

[/ QUOTE ]

It was raining quite heavily when I left around 5.30pm and was forecast to carry on raining like that all evening, but better tomorrow (only showers). It didnt rain that much during most of the day (consistent light drizzle), the ground held up very well for the 1* and was doing well for the limited number of 2* competitors who went round.

A really shocking tragedy, my condolences to the family and friends of the poor girl.

I'm sorry but if you were worried about your first post sounding heartless, this one is just shocking. How can anyone say they would rather a rider was killed than a horse? I just hope no-one who knew the girl killed today sees your post

I have to say I would always rather rider than horse.

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you having a laugh? A rider knows the risks yes, but how can you say that? Nobody expects to be killed

be it horse or rider! Horses are replacable - humans are not! Totally and utterly shocked by this...

OK we will agree to dissagree, I can see you don't like my views but I cannot say I agree with the feeling of disposable horses either.
I didn't mean to upset you but I was upset by the fact some wished it was the horse!

Re reading my post makes me sound hartless, it is a terible day for the riders family and friends, but I have to say I would always rather rider than horse. The riders know the risks, the horses are doing what they are asked.
I was worried about the weather cause we have had 1.5" of rain here in Wales today and I am ment to be going tomorrow!

thanks and my thoughts are with the family at this awful time.

Have you typed that out correctly? That is such a horrible, horrible thing to say

(Lets not allow one ill thought out post to take over this thread.)

My deepest condolences to all family and connections.

lets not get distracted by a random comment I think all of us agree this is a terrible thing to happen to anyone , its at times like this we should be united in our thoughts and condolence

oh no, this is such sad news! What an awful, awful thing to happen! I'm sure it is absolutely no consolation, but my deepest thoughts are with her family and friends at this terrible time!!

I can't believe someone would say that- how about how the riders family are feeling???????
As harsh as it may sound a horse can be replaced although it would be totally devastating

My sincere condolences go out to the lady who has passed away and all of her family. As others have said it makes you realise how fragile life is, somehting that sometimes we take for granted.

My God Janej55uk, i really hope the devistated family dont read your post. Im sure the poor girl did know the risk but im also sure she wouldnt want what has happened.

What a horrible shocking comment i would like it removed. Especially under the circumstances.

Thoughts & condolences to the family & friends.

I am afraid I'd wish it was the horse anyday if it was between horse or rider. It is sad when a horse dies but they can be replaced - you cannot replace a family member. I think your comment was extremely ill thought out and now you're just trying to jusitfy it so you don't have to admit that it was untasteful - I can see where you are coming from in that yes, it is sad when a horse dies but I would never, never wish what has happened on anybody. We may all be a total hard hearted bunch in your eyes saying this but in my opinion a human life is a lot more important than a horse life.

Very very sad, reading this post made my blood run cold. I'm sending all my thoughts to the family who must be heartbroken - RIP. What a tragedy.

How terrible, such tragic news.

I'm sure its is heart breaking to loose your horse at an event, but utterly deverstaing (sp) to loose a family member and friend.

I didn't see the post which thankfully you appear to have deleted, but in my opinion no horse's life is worth more than a human's.
Her poor poor family, I can't even imagine how they must feel tonight.
I did see your first post and thought instantly "What a thoughtless thing to ask under the circumstances," but your second one defies belief..
