Hi everyone!

I got my letter back from Hartpury College and they have invited me for an interview with them in a couple of weeks (had to be postponed due to family circumstances). I have been riding for almost five years now, albeit with a two year break due to an accident. I am by no means a perfect rider, though I am hoping this doesn't hinder me too much. Horses are my passions and I have given every spare minute I have to my work with them in the hopes of one day opening my own riding school.

However, before all that I would like to go to college, and I'm absolutely bricking it because I have no idea what to expect for my assessment/ interview.

-What do they ask you to do specifically?
By this I mean things like walk+trot without stirrups, walk+trot+canter, any jumps or pole work? I would really appreciate specifics here, thanks.

-How long is the assessment?

- Will it be 1:1 or a group assessment?

-Is it a 1:1 interview?

Thanks in advance guys,

Hiya, not sure if you still needed an answer to this. I did my riding assesment last year and it's nothing to worry about! I was put in a group with about five other people and we were assigned horses by the person assessing is then rode for about 10-15 minutes. The stuff you are asked to do is just basic movements like 20m circles and changing rein etc. We were not asked to do any work without stirrups or any pole work, again it was just basic transitions. Due to your circumstances I am unsure whether you will still be with a group but I'm sure you'll be fine (if you haven't already done it) Goodluck!
Oh and the interview is 1:1 but it's very informal and I also had to do some English tests (like spelling, reading and writing) but they were fine.
