im hoping to be in the clearing for this course for september, very last minute decision as i gave up on the idea originaly but my mum convinced me to go for it! anyway.. i would value your experiences doing this degree! how you coped with having horses and doing it, i have two horses and i get VERY cheap livery which is ideal as a student so i dont really want to move them, i live 55 miles from hartpury and was planning on staying at home. can it be done? and it says its full time, how many days a week roughly do you have lectures in your first year? full time can mean so many different things, the degree i was originally doing, full time was 1 day a week!
any info greatly recieved! thank you!

Hi

Hartpury is great but I would be 99.9% sure that all places are filled for this year as you have to go through a personal interview process to be accepted and there are only 16 ish places available per year. Not a course usually available through clearing :-)

it was on the clearing list on their website but il be ringing them first thing in the morn as there is an open day on the 21st for clearing students only so will bombard them with questions :D

I dont think its a clearing course, all the places were allocated a few months ago, because I didnt get in because of a lack of experience but Im thinking of reapplying next year mmmmmmmmmmmmmm decisions!:o

I just found it on the clearing page-VictoriaEDT, how does did that work when you were there, surely it should have gone to the people that had the interviews rather than go through clearing, I dont really understand clearing:confused:

neither do i? i have a firm offer for a different degree elsewhere but changed my mind so it was only 50/50 that id get in this year! but im still confused lol.

Its depends on places available, drop out rates etc etc but I was also a student there since the course began in 2002 and there are always around 200 applicants for less than 20 places and there are a lot of entry requirements like work experience with a BEVA qualified EDT and an interview for places. Ive never known any places given through clearing unless they have already been through the interview process and have work experience etc

I havent even had my results yet so I dont know how that stands with clearing- Im going to give them a ring in the morning, did you have an interview for this one? I had an interview for the BSc and the foundation degree but it came through on ucas as unsucessfull for both of them and Im not quite sure what to do :o

Hmm... I would have said that all the places would have gone, the interviews are normally in February time.

Also I would say in 1st year I had lectures everyday...they can be anytime from 8:30 am until gone 7pm. In 2nd year about 3 days a week and in 3rd year I had 2 lectures a week. I would have though in 1st year you may struggle a bit with horses and all that traveling. My friend lived in Bristol and traveled. She had other people to do her horses, but did get rather annoyed when she drove in for one lecture then it got canceled!!

PM me if you want to ask any questions as I have just graduated from that course :)

thanks for that, il give them a ring and see what happens or il be trying a different route untill next year! may well be pm'ing you in the future!
