Just planning my season would love to be aiming for the ** at weston at the end of the year so am planning on doing the CIC** at gatcombe before had but which * do you think would set me up better!

I have already done a CIC & CCI* both clear XC and 1 down SJ and hes been intermeditae eventing this year and now will do a few novices to get a few more points!!

Opinions on both * would be great

thanks alot

I have heard the ground at Hartpury is bad - I know they try but its still not good. I think ElleSJ did the 2* at Hartpury so she might be your best bet for an honest answer.

I love Blair but its a bit far from you. It should be a good event this year the the YR Euros there. The course at Blair, I would say, is smaller than Burgie but you haven't been there either. Sorry not much help.

Hartpury was a fairly tricky track when we went 2 years ago, if you went direct routes it would set you up ok.
Tbh, you're probs best to do another CIC** as they really give you a feel for the complexity of a 2* track. Although 3-days are fun!!

Blairs a lovely course from what I saw when I was last there - although I wasnt competing, only watching that level!! Id say you need a fit horse as there's a monster of a hill to go up at one point. It is far from you, but then it a really nice event with lots of other things going on to watch (BSJA, showing, demo's etc.).

Be warned Weston last year was a very stiff 2* using most of the Spring Advanced track. It was big and in places technical so if you are aiming to go I would get in as many CIC** as possible.

SJ, awesome new pic you've added to your sig.. Royal Cornwall?? how did it go??
BUT IT'S TOOOO BIG

Definitely Blair, thats where we're heading, can't compare it event wise to Hartpury which i hate (so am v biased!), the ground there isn't usually great either alhtough i hear they've installed some watering systems???
