Harvest Mites - Any working treatments?

I ride a Welsh Shire which has picked up lumpy legs that he has scratched and are sore. I suspect mites. Does anyone know of a remedy?
Any help or advice known to work appreciated.

Definatley frontline, availiable through tack shops.
sp means not sure about spelling!!

The dectamax (I think that is how you spell it) is an injection from the vet. I take my mare 4 times a year, and it costs me about £10 each time (as I dont pay call out if I take her to the vet). It works wonders for her!!!
