Has any one ever washed a dry clean only show jacket -

I've recently washed a Mears and a Caldene - they were both fine - put them in on a wool wash!

always wash my daughters show jackets on a warm wash then hang on a hanger to dry

My show jacket is washable (made sure of that when I bought it) but I did once wash a dry clean only dress and the results weren't pretty!!

I'd be careful if it really says 'Dry Clean Only'

I have washed my Pikeur one a few times and it’s been fine. Just washed it on cool and hung it straight up.

I wash dryclean only suits on a gentle wash then hang up to dry. As long as its not wool it should be ok

My machine has a wool wash cycle, I've always washed my wool suits on the coolest setting stretch back a little into shape to flatten, and hang to dry and they've been fine.

I wash my hacking jacket and show jacket and both say dry clean. Just keep a cool wash and hang on a coat hanger to dry.

Thankies all you brave and wonderful peeps. I suppose it's only the same as riding for an hour in a full on downpour (with added soap)

I washed and tumbled my OH suit jacket last week (well to be honest I think he put it in to tumble). It wasn't ok.

I won't be putting it anywhere near the tumble-dryer.

When I am doing a dry clean only item rather than put detergent in the ball in the machine I mix it with water in a jug and pour it in through the drawer as it fills then you don't get the risk of neat detergent on the fabric. I do this as the only prob I ever had washing a dry clean only jacket was a detergent stain on the edge of the velvet lapel.
