I appear to have lost them somewhere. I had them last week, and now they've gone.

I've had a nightmare month with a phsyco share horse (which I have now given up), so I thought the best thing to do would be to book a lesson at my old RS and ride something sane. Except when I got there, they'd booked me in on my usual mare, who although no-where near as bad, is still the RS loony mare, only certain clents are allowed to ride her. Usually I don't mind her antics, she's an 11.2 pony in a 16.2 body, She likes to take the mick if allowed, and is really fast, but this time, I just felt gutless against her and had to swap mounts half way through my lesson.
The horse I ended up riding is by no means a plod, he was a 17.2 tbx, and we even did some jumping that night, only 2'6, but I just don't know what is wrong with me at the mo. My riding confidence has hit an all time low.
I feel like my riding is pants, and to make it worse I am now without a regular ride again. It feels as though I am going backwards.

Please help, how do I get back on track??

On a more cheerful note. My kids made my day today, both of them came off the lead rope during their lesson. Yippee for them

Poor you, but don't be so hard on yourself I am sure you will get your nerve back, it will just take a bit of time! Confidence is such a fragile thing, you don't realise it until it suddenly deserts you!

Riding some safe, sane horses for a time is the way to go so I think it was good you swapped off the RS nutter!

Its a shame you aren't in Kent, I have a very sensible young horse that needs some work/sharer, but its a bit far for you to travel.

Good luck!

Iv had the same problem!! Iv not long had a baby but was only 'off' riding for about 8weeks, when i first got back on my own nutter pony he was being a total prat and i ended up getting off and leading him home, then i rode a horse i havent sat on before, she's 17hh ish so a big girly plus she's new to me, she had a few prances about and a few bucks and i totally lost my nerve and led her home too! Iv ridden my pony since and he was an angel and today i rode another one i havent sat on before and have to admitt to being wary about it - she's a 15hh cob

, she was really nice though and i got on great with her.

I dont know if its having a tiny baby that has my confidence shot or if i just need to find a nice calm horse and stick to riding it!!

Oldmare and little tinker. Thanks for being so kind. I do think having children changes how much risk you are prepared to take. These things just wouldn't have phased me when I was younger.

Thanks oldmare for your offer too, but you're right, I think Kent is a bit too far away.

I have booked in some more riding lessons, but specifically asked not to ride the crazy mare for now. I'm not gonna let it put me off.

Thanks again for your kind support guys.
