Is it just me, or does it seem that 2009 has been a pretty sh*t year for most people. In my case I have had alot of equine and human injury problems, resulting in a somewhat shortened event season, and generally poor results at alot of the events I went to

. Plus a load of grief from my now ex boyfriend, who I chucked out on my Birthday after finding out he was not at work (due to being sacked!), but trying to make passes at my best friend instead, and therefore could not be around for my birthday. One of my friends died. The list continues, but I shall not bore you with it.

So have you had a good 2009, or not?????

Whatever the answer lets just look forwards to 2010, surely it can't be worse!!!!!!!

Must admit horsewise and workwise I've had a pretty good 2009.... Work's picked up considerably (which is great cos I'm self-employed) and pony has been amazing this show season. Only rough patch has been that I moved yards at the beginning of November, and then again at the end of November.

Hope 2010 is amazing for EVERYONE!

Ive had a pretty rubbish 2009 me or horsey have had something wrong with us pretty much all year. Was unemployed for a good six months meaning that i had to sell jeep and trailer. Fingers crossed for a good 2010.

I've had quite a steady 2009 - but then 2008 was SO good, it would have been a tricky year to beat!
I am looking forward to 2010 - I hope it's a good one for all HHOers!

Horsey wise i have had a good 2009 and we have improved a lot and moved up classes out competing
smile.gif

People wise it has been up and down

My Grandma has spent a lot of time in hospital with heart problems so that has been worrying (thankfully she's ok now)
smile.gif

we lost one of our cats at the beginning of the year due to liver problems (he was only 18 months old and a house cat so we were really attatched to him and that hit my mum particularly hard

)
There are probably other things as well but I don't want to make you all miserable seeing as it's nearly Christmas!

May 2010 be a much better year for us all!

Ive had a great 2009 - work is better - horses have been healthy and bloomin amazing at every show ive taken them to - they are both superstars and im so proud they are mine. Ive moved house - bought a puppy and everything has been just rosy!
The highlight of my year was most definately the Newmarket ride which was by far the best thing ive ever done on horseback - amazing.

My 2009 has been a rollercoaster!!
Work - Been busy one minute then dead for the next 20 mins!! One minute we are doing well, the next we have having to tighten our belts!
Car - Paid out for alot on my car this year, but mostly wear and tear. New clutch £700, brakes £300, service £250, MOT £150, but that should be it now!
Horse - Gave Sukari back to her owner, after she cost me a small fortune in abcesses and having her for 6 months, and riding her about 5 times. But on a good note, took Horlicks under my wing, and have found my dream horse (even though she's not mine... YET!!) Won a few Dressage comps and took her XC which I really enjoyed!
Money - Getting there with my debts. Paid off quite a bit, but still a way to go!
Love - Couldn't be better!! OH has been VERY supportive during the whole Sukari thing etc and then helping me with Horlicks at comps. Helped me sort my money issues out, and has generally been a rock through all my tough months!

It could have been better, but hey, it could have been a lot worse!!

All the best for 2010!!!

Not bad really.

My riding horse, Diamond who I bought late summer 2008 is cool, sound and has proved a very nice horse.
smile.gif

My chestnut, Debbie who went lame in 2008 never came right and as she didn't like being ridden anyway, the best possible outcome arrived and she has a place at the blood bank in April for the next few years.

Flame and Abby lived on another year without problems.

Gave up the battle with two driving ponies soundness and pts. Thanks to everyone whose help and advice kept them going as long as was possible.

Found a lovely Welsh cob to take over the driving job a few weeks ago and so far he seems a total dude.

I hope everyone who's had a bad year has better luck in 2010.

horses, work and boyfriend wise its been a good year, family wise it hasn't due to health problems which have just this month been found out about so can't see that being any better in the new year.

Wishing everyone a very good 2010
smile.gif

mine has been amazing in some respects, but then down right rubbish in others!
horse has been great at times, but has had some low moments when he lost his confidence.
one of ours was PTS.
had a really bad time at school.
but just now it has been amazing and my horse is so sweet, and although we didn't have the most successful year, 2010 will be better, but without him the cr@p times would not have been worth sorting out..

Its been a bad one for me. Horse on and off work all year from two injuries. Then I had an injury which ment 3 and a half months off work. Car has really had it in for me this year, think might be from the 3months left at the yard in a corner.
Had a girl at our yard (whos 13yrs), mum commit sucide (sp?) a day b4 the girls birthday. She wanted to spend alot of time down the yard with the horses so spent a long time being a shoulder to cry on and now down as 1st x-mas without her mum.
Hoping 2010 will only bring happiness

Horse wise....my older lad has remained fit and healthy....no serious problems (touches wood frantically)...last few years we have had strangles, broken leg (horse) and tack nicked....none of that this year thank god.

The highland won championship at RC for M+M large breed and coloured in his first year of showing so well chuffed with that.

Swapped car for 4x4 and bought a trailer...all grown up now
shocked.gif

No major ill-health stuff.....son started high school, me and OH still got jobs and seem to have weathered the recession fair enough so far ( windfall/lottery win wouldnt go amiss but hey-ho)....

So...pretty good...hopefully 2010 will be even better

Horse wise 2009 wasn't that good. I sold my cob that i had for nearly 4 years, to what i thought was a fab home, turns out they only had her a couple of months, so i was and still am v upset about all of that! Then i got an ex racer and he turned out to be too much for me, so i wished i had kept my cob, so i am constantly beating myself up about all of that! Anyway now a have a baby and am looking forward to a great 2010 with him

Its been pretty much the worse year.
Horse of 14 years pts in may and im only just starting to work my life out. I coped far to well at the time and a month ago it bit me in the backside big time.

frown.gif

On a plus note i realised that my oh is one in a million and i really cant thank him enough for his support and his gentle encouragment.
I am now starting to look towards 2010 and the fact that i need a horse in my life or i will slip up again.
Onwards and upwards for next year, it really couldnt be any worse than this one.

I've had a good 2009:

Horsey: had lots of fun and done things that I never thought I would - mainly jumping and xc.
Work: My job has been ok, and I am grateful to have one that keeps George in hay and shoes.
Family, friends and OH: All happy and healthy

See, I just worry when is it all going to come crashing down.

The first half was okish. The first half of the second was amazing. The second half of the second half was awful. 2010 will be amazing, with a lovely new horse and a BE Membership

its been a good one for me:
* i sold my freaky talented but difficult and stupidly quirky mare at the end of 2008 to be a broodmare, she loves her job as a mummy and the stud owners young son adores playign with her on the ground, she has found the best home ever, thrilled for her
smile.gif

* i bought my 4yo, who is just the horse of a lifetime already, i laugh and smile every time i ride him, he has given me back my enjoyment and confidence, as well as being a super competition horse and gaining a lot of good placings.

*started a new job in April, better money, more interesting work and fab people, i love it.

*moved in with my OH Oct, a step towards being an adult lol!!!

Not so bad, business wise very good. Horsewise started well but ended with box rest

Other half had 2 accidents motorcycle and glass related but on the mend from both so cant complain

2009 for me has been a mixture of highs and lows

Health- Not too bad, fell off my horse in Feb as she refused a showjump and threw me off. This resulted in fractured and dislocated elbow, two months off riding and work :-( and a severly dented confidence

Horse - Not too bad, she recovered from her sinus surgery last year but had another sinus relapse in October - resulting in antibiotics and dental filling and £600 of vets fees. But she remains sound and well and we are really getting our confidence back together now and torwards the latter end of this year was back getting placed in dressage and showjumping and having lots of fun, so looking forwards to next year to do more of the same.

Work - Excellent - Got a promotion early on in the year and a change in contracts which means that I no longer have to work oncall or weekends!

Lovelife- Excellent, got a lovely OH who is very supportive and caring, looking forwards to spending more time with him next year!:-)

So generally Im pretty happy with this year, it could have been worse, could have been better!x

Not a good one for me for the most part..

Mum very unwell for much of the year
frown.gif
which reached a crisis point during my summer holidays meaning I didnt get one. I feel mean and self centred typing that, but I kind of rely on my 2 weeks a year to just recharge the batteries. But she is a lot better now so hopefully 2010 will be a good 'un
smile.gif

Horse wise - not good as my gorgeous old girl is now retired
frown.gif
So I will (with great trepidation) be horse hunting in the spring

Business wise - very good, the business has doubled in size in 2009, but thats bought problems of needing more machinists etc. Anybody interested lol? Also rather knackered me as I am still doing 3 days a week IT consultancy... which might have to go in 2010 (oh joy, oh joy

)

Come to think I reckon 2010 could be a cracker
grin.gif
with a bit of luck

Happy Christmas everyone

I've had P requiring Sinus Surgery, lost Tweenie to Colic and my dog died.

Not a good year!

On the plus side - P is now a-ok from surgery (although going back for a check up in the new year), we bought a new pony called Buffy to replace Tweenie and I had a new puppy last Friday.

It's ending on a better note but I'm hoping 2010 is as happy as this year has now ended.

on paper 2009 should have been good, my bro got married and my mum remarried in Oct.
However, I have felt the most crappy and miserable this year as I've ever felt, but determined to do things to make myself and not others happy in 2010.
smile.gif

Nope, not really...

After saving for about 5 years so I could buy my own horse I decided to save the majority of money and loan. This lead to a great loan which lasted 3 weeks, in which time the horse turned out to be not as advertised (lame as soon as ridden). This knocked £800 out of my funds... (and for a 17 year old that is a hell of a lot). Never found a horse to replace it either so I went from having a stable and happy share at the beginning of the year to being horseless with a lot of heartbreak attatched.

Education wise... Oxford University just rejected me... That is where I have wanted to go since I was 8 and I am really struggling to get over it.

Roll on 2010!

Erm, neither here nor there really!!

For starters, I managed to get on my horse and over come my fear of him, found my horse in a life time.

I over came my gripping fear of stepping foot in a field on him and went to the Ride For Life and galloped and jumped little xc jumps and generally LOVED IT.

I got out to two dressage series and had varying success
smile.gif

But, He still put me in A&E and has still caused a few tears

2010 will be the making of us both I hope
