Has anybody used Dormosedan paste?

it's a different drug to sedalin, a much stronger one so yes, it will be more effective. however, normally this drug is given IV in combination with torbugesic which stops the kick reflex. domosedan alone will produce a very very sleepy looking horse with all it's reflexes intact - potentially very dangerous. vets would never inject just domo alone so not sure why the company thinks its safe to give it alone orally. i wont be using it.

Thank you Star. Apparently it is now newly available as a gel which goes under the horses tongue. My EDT has recommended it having treated a couple of big strong horses very recently with very good effect. I want to talk it through with my vet anyway as I think she was given this intravenously last time she needed work but as you say - in collaboration with another drug. Star - can you advise me on Sedalin dosage for a big 16.3hh KWPN?

That's interesting Star, my dentist had also mentioned it to me & I was going to ask my vet about it. Suddenly it doesn't sound so promising! Shame, it sounded as though it could have been extremely useful for my very needleshy lad :(

Having had plenty of experience of Domsedan in the past the idea that it should be available in any form to use 'off prescription' beggars belief. And no, NO ONE should be using drugs without any information as to their properties, side effects etc..Am horrified! This raises a welfare issue for sure

I don't think anyone is saying it's "off prescription"??? I understood that it was only available through a vet, naturally I'd discuss any potential problems & the recommended dose with her before using it so I don't see the problem.

it will still be a prescription only medicine, just like Sedalin. i guess it might be ok for dental work - i would steer well clear for clipping or anything like that though. I certainly dont think it would be any good for my dentist phobic horse - I reckon he'd still manage to lash out and go vertical. I just dont like the drug on it's own - much better in combination with Torb.

Sedalin dosage varies depending on the horse - my little skinny 15.2hh takes 2/3 of a tube to make him even a bit dopey!
