Quiet show with several rings, loads of working in and hard standing lorry park if it is raining. Very well organised, but was almost under water last year! No fun fair or anything horrid, so excellent if you are wanting to get a younger or spooky horse in the ring. If the weather is kind, then it will probably be quite busy - even with torrential rain last year (and I mean properly torrential) the RIHS classes had 6-10 in the classes.
I went about 4 years ago, so assuming it has not changed much...
Fairlands Valley Park is an absolutely massive flat park & the show is set in 1 bit of it - so all the rings were easy to get to. 1 pony got loose though, set off down the park & went for absolutely miles - they had to get a car out to follow it. Maybe they have fenced it in better now but if not make sure you don't let go of your horse!
Apart from that I thought it was a really nice show. It was fairly quiet - not many trade stands or anything. I was only there to do the veterans but from what I could see the affiliated classes had strong entries - several well known showing people were there. Rings were a good size & it seemed well run.
It might have grown a bit since I last went so hopefully someone who has been there more recently will also reply. I am thinking of going again this year & taking my young horse.
It sounds perfect for us then, thank you. It will be our first attempt at a maxi class and the nupafeed classes so very excited but didn't want anything too big and scary horse will be fine but I will be a nervous wreck.
Thank you and hope to see some of you there then, I will be on the big blue and white glugging away on my hip flask looking as white as my horse
