at Leominster? Or the WPCS sales at Builth Wells? If so, what are your experiences? Are they well regulated and not too heart breaking? What is the quality of the animals?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Leominster is a good quality sales- you'll find a range of ponies, youngsters through to quality hunters/ allrounders. Prices from £300-6kish when I went.
They are penned individually and there is a central tarmaced riding area then a thin strip of grass to canter/ jump on. Very well regulated, no chance of anything tugging too badly on your heart strings

I go to Leominster and Malvern. They are both good sales, no sad sights and I am sure most people are pleased with what they get. I think atm you can pick up a realy cheapy at Leominster as prices are down, probably something to do with the cost of keeping them now.

The Cob sales at Builth are fine, there is one coming up in may. Breeders sell their stock there and are all well presented and in good condition. The october sales do have a lot of foals, but there are strict rules that foals have to have been weaned prior to the sale. Some of the older cobs go for several thousand. Some well bred mares into the 10,000 bracket. I am very sqeamish about sales but I have sold several at Builth, one foal going for a lot of money to Canada. Dunno about Leominster though.

brought afew from leominster, all fine with no hang ups. The vets good and will do bloods if asked.
they was an arcticle in h&h many moons ago that said that leominster is the best monthly sales in england, it still it is (?)

you tend to get a few racers or ex racers then some hunters, ridding horses, ponies, a few youngstock. None ive ever seen are rspca cases or anywhere close. theres a good standard there

I bought Donovan from Builth Wells sales in Sept last year. Lots and lots of ponies there, all that I saw looked well cared for, nothing worrying, would def go again!

The wpcs at builth is always quite tidy, well run with stock going through thats actually quite nice on occasions. As pastie2 says some older cobs do end up going for a few thousand with often oversee's buyers coming in to buy from here.
