just wondered as seen quite a few on ebay that are 'cheaper' brands such as gallop or gee-tac. Just wondered if anyone had bought or used, some are same denier outer and filling etc as the expensive makes but half the price?!

I bought 2 MW McAlister TO rugs from horseloverz, one 6ft and 1 6ft3 and I haven't had any problems with leaking etc and they're finished really nicely too.

I couldn't tell you how they stand up over a longer period of time compared to the bigger brands, but after using them all winter they've been washed and come up like new. One of mine is a chronic rug wrecker so I decided to try chaper makes, figuring they'd be trashed long before spring anyway and I don't know what I was more impressed with, the fact that they were better quality than I thought they would be, or the fact that they survived my mare lol

They cost me £17 each.

I got a load of rugs for the yard, I got about 10 up the neck stables rugs that cost from 10 to bout 20 pounds depending on bidding, a load of up the neck fleeces for about 10 pounds and normal fleeces for a bit less!! They are all ace and have lasted really well

bought job lot of 10 gallop stable rugs with full necks, for £140 - sold most of them to people on the yard for about £30 each

I'm satisfied with them - didn't like the cotton linings and the neck cover design rubbed manes - but then more expensive rugs have the same problem

Having said that, the outer fabric is as tough as a turnout rug and I can see them going on for ever

I got a cheap premier (i think) turnout rug with neck, there is someone who always has loads for sale.
I thought it was great, pony trashes rugs so after wearing it every day through winter its a bit ripped now.
BUT......it was the only rug she had that didnt rub her shoulders bald

I have had two rugs from a firm called protuff. Really good rugs got full neck heavey weight turn out for about £40, and horse hasnt trashed it!

I got a 6foot HW turnout rug for £45 last week, for that price I can bin it if it is really dirty or torn by next summer, look a good one, time will tell, Love ebay......

I got some heavy weight rugs from protuff and light weight from naughty neddys and they are all doing well and did not cost the earth, have to say prefer some of them to the more expensive ones that i have brought, more expensive does not always mean, better, sometimes means paying for the name

Both my 2 have the "Premier" full neck 300g turnouts. The fittings aren't great and the postage expensive at £12 but they fit perfectly and did not rub shoulders or mane off.

In fact both my 2 - gelding wearing 6ft and mare wearing 6ft9 ended up with the same colours as I just kept bidding til I got a cheap one! Think they ended up approx £23 inc the postage. My geldings will be on its 3rd winter this year!!
