I want a field shelter, pref 12x12. Just somewhere I can keep a pony or 2 when they arrive from the stud.
(no date set BTW)

Whats the best way to do it?
Wood or Galvanised?
Pre packed or go to a saw mill and get my handy OH to build it?
And what sort of prices?

Thankies

My dad built mine

It is 20x10. He made it out of wood with a box profile steel roof. He then transported it 150 miles on the back of his trailer and built it for me too, so I am a bit chuffed

. Cost about £600 in materials but that includes second hand steel for the roof and some second hand wood. It's lined to half height with kicking boards. My horses love it and use it when it's cold/wet/windy/bad flies/too hot, you name it. Dad even cleverly recessed a couple of the noggins (sp?) so I have somewhere handy to tuck brushes etc.

Other great thing is that I could specify two doorways; one of my horses bullies the other, so this way she can't get cornered.

Oh by the way there is wood right up to the roof but that went on last I think? He built it in four sides at his place, then transported it in large pieces, and we bolted the sides together, put the roof on, put the pegs into the ground then kicking boards on last.

God I love my shelter
