just wondered what to expect. I am thinking of doing mine in the near future amd was just wondering what to expect. Do you have to jump a course of fences? What height?
What are they looking for in the flat and teaching?
I have got my Stable Managers so if I get the E & T thats my full BHSI out of the way.

Not done it but my centre runs them (I left for uni once I have my 4 - i did alot of guinea pigging). The exams we ran candidates were expected to assess and then improve a horse over the showjumps provided. A course was already set up but heights/ distances could be altered for the horse on request or to suit horses ability (most jumped about 1.20 by the end). A course was set up for xc (up to 1m10ish)once again to assess horses ability in relation to competition, over a variety of fences. Noone who did not ride at least half the course as one passed this section. An assessment session which you had to assess a horses ability on flat and over jumps in 30mins. Dressage - 2 horses - swap half way through, same as jumping, show ability to improve half pass/changes etc.

Teaching the main thing is that it is now coaching not teaching as such so you need to improve the rider and horse (must be both0 with appropriate excersises but that you should be helping the rider to help themselves, rather than just telling them what to fdo. Should be able to teach up to medium and jumping up to novice horse trials, SJ foxhunter (not positive on the last part. You are unlikely to have all straightforward ghorses. Some will be a bit tricky/sharp on purpose to test your ability. The SJ and XC you do on your own, the dressage in pairs and the assessment in a group. Lectures/teaching either individually or in pairs. Hope this helps!
