Has anyone done this before?

I always struggle to lift my cobs feathers and apply hoof oil without getting it everywhere. Last night I had a genius idea: I cut up some of tights, stretched them over the hoof and pulled the up the leg. the feathers got pulled up, leaving all of the hood bare to apply hoof oil inside and out! Once they dried I took the tights off brushed the feathers through and the job was done! Quick and mess free Has anyone else done this before?

Yes, a girl I knew did it for the farrier cos she couldn't bandage!! Always made me laugh, the farrier couldn't care less, he always ripped the tights.

I don't use hoof oil, not sure it's all it's cracked up to be.

Tubigrip or similar bandages are good too.

No, I don't use hoof oil. It stops the necessary moisture getting into the hoof.
