Has anyone else actually given up horses??

I think horses are in the blood and its something that you just cant seem to shake off.

So true! Another one that's 'given up' here (not forever though!)... I couldn't take anymore heartache.

I've now stopped having horses and started buying houses, which is probably more sensible but not as fun :(

As above really... Just wondering if I am the only one who really reached the end of their teather and has given up horses completely as a result?

My loan horse was picked up on Sunday and now everything has gone. Everything is forsale and it's all horribly empty and quiet at home! Yes it was my choice to do so, but until they are gone you never realise just how big the presence of a horse is :( You never feel alone when horses are with you. It's silly really, but it has bought it all back to me and reminded what it was like in September when we lost both our beautiful horses.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and when does the heartache stop and how much of a life is there after horses??

Sorry this is a bit of a pointless post!! :o

I lost mu boy about a month ago, I said I would never have another but already I can not live without another horse.. ((((((( hugs to you))) XXXX, let me know..

So sorry for your losses. I lost my boy 3 months ago. Miss him like madness. I feel nothing will be the same again. I do not know when I will get back to horses but I am volunteering at a horse charity soon so will be spending some time with them - turned down the riding for now though. Only time will tell - I hope you have some better luck soon.

Sister and I both gave up when the first horse we had died, following a freak accident when he broke his back falling from the field. We were both in our 20's, having learnt to ride as children. We managed about a year without horse contact, then both went to a riding school for a while. Reaslised what we had been missing, and bought the first Appy to share, then decided that we wanted to ride out together, so got the WelshDxTb,Dad decided he wanted to drive, so got a cracking section A, then the then OH decided that the only way he was going to get to spend any time with me was by learning to ride, so along came the first ShirexClyde. So within about 5 years we had gone from none to four! :D. All the four have since passed on and we have had a few others along the way. We currently have mine and sisters riding horses, Dad's retired 14.3 piebald Cob mare and a friends children's 14hh pony. Oh and three sheep :D. Not much chance of us giving up!
