Inspired by dream horse post

I had always believed that you would know the horse as soon as you saw or rode him. I did with both my other two.

micah was completely different.
I went horse hunting after recovering from a freak fall where I broke my ankle really badly. However I didn't have enough cash for a quality been there done that one, and I knew I wanted a quality horse and would eventually be bored with a push button pony anyway

When I went to try him he looked nothing in the stable but looked a lot different tacked up. He was very green and bouncy, launched into canter, threw his head about a fair bit. My friend rode him first and couldn't keep him straight, he was all over the place. I rode him he had a huge trot that I was not used to and was so green I said thanks but not what I am looking for

On the way home my friend said ok so he is baby but what did he do wrong??
I thought about it and couldn't think of a thing. So went back the next day and rode him outdoors he was just the same. So I said I would have him :D

Took very experienced friend with me to fetch him, she took one look at him and said I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole  he had a lump above his fetlock (which I knew) and a lump under his saddle.

He didn't look much at all was slightly under weight no muscle/topline and he was scruffy and in messy stable. Once she saw him trot up she was liking him better, but still wasn't convinced. I bought him anyway

What a horse I would have missed out on too!! He is perfect and will soon be what everyone wants
15.3h 7yr WB lovely paces, forward but very safe, not at all spooky. lovely to be around, great in traffic, adores being clipped. loading not always perfect but not done it much. Never stops when jumping (still learning) though)

Same experience friend hadn't seen him for a while came over last night at the SJ and said 'I bet your really proud of him! he is amazing:D

Lovely story,well done you-
I sold my 12.2 showjumper with intentions of buying a 148 to go out on-But that changed when a pony of someone i knew came up,she'd been practically abandoned and left out,she was skin and bone and an absoulute state, she was scared of humans and i genuinly had no idea where to start,we couldn't even get a head collar on her! 2 years on she is the best mistake i've ever made, one of the best known jumping ponies around here, and everyone knows little Thumper. Everyday is a bonus, and i couldnt be more proud.
This is my little girl doing what she does best

Wanted -bay/chestnut gelding nothing foreign 15.3hh max about 10 yrs old sort of done a bit of everything - definitely did not want a mare or a grey or a youngster or bigger than 15.3.

Bought a grey, dutch warmblood (imported from Holland), 16.2hh (now 17.1hh) five year old mare

My daughter wouldn't part with her for the world. In the beginning a lot of people said we were mad - but even with some of the injury problems we have had we love her to bits

I went to try a little grey horse with a few issues, who belonged to my sister's friend's sister. I was out-growing my pony, and was looking for a small horse to event. He'd been turned out for two years, so I had him on trial to get him fit and see how he jumped etc. I fell in love, and he went lame, so he went back. I was absolutely gutted!

A year passed. I tried other horses, and nothing was *quite* right. In the meantime, I competed my pony, and thought about this little grey horse. I kept in contact with the owner, as the horse went on trial (I cried when I heard this!) and came back after bucking someone off (I cried when I heard this!). After trying 6 different horses across the entire North Island.....

I bought the little grey horse. He's got some major behavioural issues, and soundness concerns, but I was never going to settle for any horse except Tally.

Everything I've ever ended up with has been something I haven't wanted!
1st was a very pretty Welsh B. Bucked me off and gave me a very unsafe feeling when I tried him. He was being bought by someone else's daughter but I would ride him as she was only tiny & the lady thought he was very pretty :(
2nd was my pony of a lifetime :D But when we first went to see him, he was a scrawny, nervous, unschooled bay....thing....We got in the car & I told my mum if she bought me that I'd give up (I was terrified of anything after the Welshie  ) But Mum and my instructor insisted. 3 years later I cried my eyes out for weeks over selling my little dude! lol :p
the 3rd and my current boy was just there at the right time. I wanted to move onto an untouched 4/5 year old HORSE with no white. Something Tb/athletic. Ended up with a poorly schooled (but with no competition experience) 14"3 (not a pony, but not quite a horse) coloured (with four white legs) COB. He literally looked like he'd been dragged off a roundabout in Ireland and had the most indescribable jumping technique ever. He felt like a proper 'cut-n-shut'. buuuutttt he was going to be a 6 month loan to take hunting and play around with then give back while looking for my horse. 3 and a half years on, he's my perfect pony! He took to competition like a duck to water, tries his little heart out & it's really something when you get this little hairy ****** out the lorry with people thinking 'what the hell is that doing here?!?'' & then popping round (& frequently winning!) a 1m10 against horses. Basically, I've learnt to NEVER trust my own judgement when it comes to buying for myself & ALWAYS leave it to my mum/instructor :p :o

Believe it or not I didn't like Andy when we first had him on trial! I now absolutly adore the little guy! :D

The moment I saw Koko I knew he was meant to be (cheesy I know) but it was just one of those amazing things, only happened on one other occasion with my 12hh games pony who I loved.

I didn't like my horse when I first rode him, just thought he was a complete nutter and not my type at all! Then I rode him again and we just clicked - he's had a lot wrong with him for various reasons but he's the best mistake I ever made :)
