I decided to mark my boys 7th birthday i would throw a little party for him and his friends. We are having jumping and gymkhana games followed by a bbq for the humans and a horse cake for the horses. Anyway the response has been very mixed with some people thinking i am just mad!! I do generally treat my horse like a horse not a child just thought i hadnt spent much time with him lately and it might be a bit of fun and a nice way to make the most of the lighter evening! I even brought some rosettes. AM I MAD???

How old are you?

My friends have birthday parties for the children and have fun games on horseback! I dont think I would throw birthday party for my horse! Maybe if I was 6!
I bought my welsh A a carrot cake last year for his birthday and he didn't bloody like it! It must be the only cake he doesn't like!

I have a party for my 26 year old mare every year. She loves it and she eats off the picnic table. People think i am mad but i don't care. She has been retired years due to haveing being poisoned so we like to mark each year she is with us. It is just a bit of fun, why not. After all it is just a picnic.

Im going to make a cake from his mix with syrup apples and carrots. The most excited people on the yard about the party are the older ones the kids dont care, think its probably just an excuse to tear round acting like kids, getting the bbq out and having a few drinks!

Our local RC holds an 'Adult gymkana and BBQ' every year!
Its wicked, I take my welsh A pony, in every race there is red and white wine involved, needless to say theres lots of drunk people!
Its a really lovely day, and this year its a day after my birthday!

We were thinking of making something outa our two babies birthdays (seeing as their the only two we know) but thats mainly cos we're open to the public and we thought the visitors might like it....

Adult gymcana games and alcohol sounds amazing! If only the uni would let us have alcohol on trips....

When my mares foal was born we wetted the babies head and had bubbly received welcome baby boy cards.
Everyone on the yard was so excited all theor friends and family also came.
Its nice to have an excuse to have a bit of fun

yeap always have a bbq and lots of alcohol and he has all the local mares he likes come to share the field he turns into hugh hefner for the night .hehe

I put up a couple of birthday banners and balloons for my boys 4th birthday (which was yesterday)! Think everyone thought I was mad!! It's also my ole girls 30th this year and was thinking of having a BBQ party for her and a bouncy castle for the proper children!

I thinks its a great idea!

So looking at the poll so far im not that mad but pretty mad!! Getting a good crowd together soon, think my birthday boy may not be to god at games his 17.1hh!!! Any ideas what games would be best for mixed height horses, smallest being 14hh??? I reckon ill be able to do anything after a few vodkas

have out cones about the length of a sandschool apart at each end.
Walk up, have someone with each person on horse back holding a plastic cup full of wine, and down it and the quickest 1 back is winner.

We did musical sacks! thats fun, especially when you get through a few heats with a cup of wine everytime you get off!
You all walk round loads of bags/sacks and the secret is to keep your feet out the stirrups, when the music stops jump off and run to a sack with horse in tow!
Be careful as it can get quite aggresive lol! I was good at that 1 as I was on my speedy 11.2 pony!!!

It was my horse's birthday today and whilst I don't go the whole party hog, he and his field mate did get a wee home-made 'cake' each, made of bread, apples, carrots, chaff and molasses!

Don't ask me how much his pressies cost though.....

I think you are a tad barking but aren't we all!! You certainly put a smile on my face and made me feel like a bad mummy as my boy was six on the 17th and he just had a normal day, however I would point out that every day of that little sausages life is like his birthday anyway!!

Well I think it is a great idea too and a friend of mine is having a party very soon for their pony. He is a grand old 30 and still doing endurance very well. Smashing pony.
I hope your party goes well and you have loads of fun because after all said and done isn't that what owning a horse or riding is all about
