Has anyone else experienced problems with Elevator bridles?

Hi - I just treated my horse to a new bridle and bought an Elevator. Within 10 days the leather on the headpiece and one cheek piece had cracked so I returned those bits for replacement. I have been told by the manufacturer that it is my care that has damaged them (but clearly not the rest of the bridle)....or that maybe that side of the bridle was in a draft in the tackroom (next to my 17 year old Stubben that has no cracks at all). I used their special spray cleaner as well.

Has anyone else experienced problems with their leather - or the customer service when complaining?

Wish I had read the forum before purchasing and Elevator, as most people seem to recommend the Albion instead.....heyho, we live and learn.

If I ever get a result from Elevator, I will be buying the Albion instead - until then the old Stubben is back out of retirement!!

my noseband cracked a bit after a few weeks on my Elevator- i sent the part back and got a new part straight away.

that was 4 years ago and since then i have had no problems with mine.

afwiw, i have the albion as well for another horse and the fit isn't anywhere near as good as the Elevator.

They say that a bridle is a perishable item, and therefore deteriorate over time (I agree, but surely not ten days!!!).

I am now taking them to the small claims court - and they are disputing my claim. I only wanted the two parts replaced, not the whole bridle or a refund.

Feel really angry, but disappointed too as all my friends tease me about my tack cleaning obsession, so to be accused of neglesting it is so far from the mark.......

Guess they just think they are bigger than me!

Blimey not good.
I have an elevator bridle which is a good 5 years old now, I take zero care of it and it's absolutely fine.
Hope they come to their senses soon for you.

Sounds like maybe a dodgy batch of leather?

I have two Elevators and they look brand new after 3 years. No stretching, cracking at all. I have to say I love them and would definately buy another.

I do love the Jefferies but I need my bridles part full/part x full and Jefferies didn't offer that option.

I'm as bad as Polar_Bear I'm afraid. Mine have had no care either!

When I first got mine it did something similar - not bad it just made it look like really cheap leather. It's about one year old now and it was only after giving it a really good oiling (flaxon or something) a month or so ago that it looked like quality leather and has continued to look good.

Hope you are successful getting yout bits replaced.

Just read this. I bought an Elevator 5 years ago, and within a short time the cheek pieces and noseband had stretched to the point of no longer fitting. I rang the company and I have to say they were excellent - they took the bridle and altered it free of charge. I would certainly persevere, as it's not acceptable for leather to crack after such a short time.
