As above really. I'm thinking of selling my beloved 3.5tonner and getting a cheval liberte trailer. Main reason is that I really have to now admit I need a 4 x 4 for getting to work (got badly stuck in snow on Monday). Also lorry just stuck over winter unused which really is bad for them I believe. So would appreciate if anyone else has done the same, how they found it? Thanks

I am in a similar situation.
I have a 3.5 tonne box but after 5 years without a 4x4, i decided to go back to one and now i am left thinking the sensible thing would be to do my trailer test and get a trailer instead. It would be cheaper, i already have the car to pull it, plus if i want to go to a show etc with my family... we can all fit in without having to take the box and a car, one of my mares loads much better into a trailer but.......
i do like having a box! plus i like 'my' box and would i find another i liked as much if i wanted to go back etc...

Hopefully someone will be able to help more!

yes I have, I had the 3.5 tonne to avoid having to take the B+E test, and loved being mobile with my horse, but when it came to needing to transport 2 at the same time as needing a second car, it was fate that we move to a trailer/4x4 set up and finally had to do the test! Thankfully I passed first time and haven't looked back, I love my trailer and the freedom it gives me to take 2 big horse anywhere! Good luck.

Thanks I must admit another positive is the 2 horse bit, as well as the fact I think the 3.5 tonner is a bit too unstable for really tall horses. I also don't put in my youngsters as I'm worried about them jumping the breast bar so that will be a plus too. All mine love it though. It just doesn't make any sense atm. Still suppose I can always change back - I'm pre 1997 and have towed a trailer for around 25 years so holds no fears but goodness I love my lorry!
