I've had my mare for 14 years and have always been puzzled by the lack of chestnuts on her hind legs! She's been fully clipped including legs several times and they def ain't there!!! They appear normally on her front legs!

Strange post I know but just curious as I've never been able to find another like it!!!

My old gelding has no chestnuts on his hind legs either - I have had him 15 years and clipped him out totally as well and like you they are definitely not there. What breed is she- it may be something in their breeding. Mine is allegedly an irish draught x connemara and I know he came from derbyshire but I know nothing more than that.

I have no idea what breed she is!! Chestnut with flaxen mane and tail and very slight roaning through her coat. She's quite like a welsh cob or part bred. Nice to know there's another odd horse out there!!!!!

I know she ain't removed them herself cos she ripped one of her front ones out (rather gross - blood and gore everywhere!!) but it grew back as normal!! Your horse has wierd taste or strange personal grooming habits!!!
