Has anyone else not managed to clip yet?

Ellie is normally done in late September, then again in December.....but we still havent managed to get her done! been so busy with uni work, as well as work work, just havent found the time! Thing is, I'm not riding as much as id like due to late trains, so I guess at least she's not sweating up all the time. On the plus side, it means that she doesnt have to be rugged up to the eyeballs all winter! That said, she's still got a thick quilt on over her fluffy coat - she said it was far too chilly to only be wearing a fleece! Pansy horse!

Its just so funny having a woolley pony-bear for a horse! You'd never know there's a fine-blooded little princess nestling somewhere beneath all the fluff!
 
I think if they're not being ridden alot there's no point in cliiping them. Maybe a quick belly job.
Will save you lots of worry over rugs. what could be better than natures central heating?

mines been cliped twice already wish i could get away with 1 clip for the whole winter life sum but NO he insists of growing his coat again and again evan with the biggest warmest rug. x
 
I don't clip...They get a tad sweaty under the saddle and armpits, but are easily dried and cooled, but they aren't that hairy being Arabs. The Newfie, just a lovely fluffy cuddly bear, the way she should be! )some today pics in pg)
She also sweats a bit under saddle but once again, easy to dry and cool

My boy's not clipped yet as we're not doing enough work to warant it....though he's not actually particularly hairy anyway.

The cob I ride out 4 times a week for someone is like a wooly bear and I bib clipped him last weekend, just to make him a little more comfortable.
 
Clipped twice so far, even tho I was SURE he'd finished changing his coat before I got the 1st clip & he was rugged to death in between.

No choice really - he's ridden every day & he was getting sweaty again, plus I prefer him to look smart.
 
My beauty has no coat at all. I keep him so well rugged that he doesn't grow one. He hates being clipped and the last experience wasn't pleasant for both of us. To be honest he didn't really need doing at all, it was hardly noticeable and I won't bother again, I just make sure he never gets cold.
 
I havent clipped yet as Merlin has yet to give me permission

That said, after last nights post about how much work, if any, does a horse need to do, I wont be bothering.

Have decided to let him have a couple of months off, just the occasional short wander and try to rekindle things in the spring

I just havnt found the time to clip yet either - she is turning into a very fluffy bear. She is ridden everyday but thankfully shes rather fit and im actually only doing slow work at the moment, after her summer of competing, so shes not sweating up really - but she does look bit of a mess! Definately gonna try and get her done by this time nxt wk.
 
I've not clipped yet because my clippers are still away getting fixed

. I did manage to get a bit of his belly done before they broke, but I don't think that counts!
 
My boy was clipped about 3 weeks ago but has grown back so much already. He was really sweaty after a 45 minute schooling session today, I don't think I rugged enough so will be clipping him again as soon as I get my blades back from sharpening and rugging up more!!
 
I haven't clipped yet, I haven't been able to ride an awful lot so I can't see the point. Now that I seem to be on the mend I'm just starting with lots of walking out so he isn't getting hot anyway. Next week I'll pick the work up so I dare say I'll have to take a bit off.
 
Both of mine are sighing in relief that I have't got round to fixing the clippers yet. When I clip it looks like I've done it with a lawn mower - I'm terrible at it. Everyone keeps telling me to practice tho - luckily I don't leave the yard in winter

AVoided it so far, mine is like a teddy bear, went for a 50 minute hack today in walk and he as damp, and of course sweaty in armpits, saddle area etc. Normally he is clipped out by now, but I'm not riding him much. I think he will getting a bib soon though...
