Has anyone else noticed Petrol has sneaked up in price again ?

Count yourself lucky - I see plenty of garages (including supermarkets, not just the out of the way and independent ones) charging 137.9 for unleaded. Although I did pass an Esso this morning at 131.9 so guess where I'm stopping tonight!

Round here at our local station its gone from 132ish to 140 in a couple of weeks. Its been made into a bigger name station so not sure if thats part of the reason. Is 5p cheaper at tesco but nearest one is 25miles away.

We have also noticed that prices went up right after the investigation which declared that there hadn't been a conspiracy to keep the price artificially high. now i am even more certain that there is something going on.

Yeah, green light for the government to slap more tax on.. Oh and they reckon it will hit £2 by the end of this year, prepare for a bumpy ride...

Yep I've noticed this too and am not happy about it either. Unfortunately there isn't a lot any of us can do about it which the Government knows and uses to its fullest effect

Petrol was 129.9 a month ago and dearest place now is 137.9

Yup, in about 2 weeks diesel has gone here from £1.39 per litre up to about £1.42 or more and creeping up nearly every day :(

Well i actually think a proper strike is the way forward for it. If we didn't all keep just going along with increase in fuel they would have to do something about it.
I know its not easy to avoid it as i live in countryside so rely on car for all journeys but maybe a proper well organised boy cot would work.

I think more efficient than a strike would be a campaign not to use BP or Shell which I think has been done once before

If their revenue goes down they will start dropping the price and the rest will follow suit

You could argue that most of it is tax, not the petrol stations fault etc etc but the fact is that they can drop the price and manage when they are forced to by local price wars.

Its not like BP are exactly short of a bob or two!

Does anyone here really believe that the price of petrol is going to come down again (by anything more than a token amount)? I doubt if oil shale reserves will make any difference to that.

Yes... i work in a petrol station therefore i get everyone come in and have a go at ME about it. I dont choose the price of fuel therefore it would be nice not to be blamed for it. We have gone from 129.9 - 134.9 petrol and 135.9 - 143.9... HR choose our prices and we just change it... get load of people come in and say "_______ are cheaper than you" well go there then i dont actually care its nothing to do with me! arggg rant over... sorry about that! :o

But i do get a fair amount of abuse each day because of the price of fuel... also a lot of people stating the obvious saying about the price going up... as if i hadnt already noticed...

sorry i'll shut up now :o

(also having a strike by not using BP, Shell or Esso would be difficult as supermakets also use all of them so you would have to find a different fuel company and tbh most come from those 3 companies including Jet, Texaco blahh blahh blahh)

problem being supermarkets tend to use all 3 so they would be no good (also depends on area of the country) Jet and Texaco use Esso and Shell i think, Morrisons, Tesco Sainsbury's etc use Esso, Shell and BP... but it is done by area so in the south east Morrisons use Esso and Shell but Middlands and to the noth of the country they use BP and Shell if that makes any sence... i would have to do research into what companies dont use certain companies etc.

also what you have to bare in mind is that the closer to the depot the petrol station is the cheaper the fuel as it has to travel less for example Weighbridge has an Esso? (i think) depot - Weighbridge is a very affluent area but the fuel is cheap as it doesnt have to travel that far... the further out you get from the depot the more expensive it is as they have to fuel the tankers as well... move closer to a depot and your fuel is going to be cheaper ;)

I paid 146.9 for my diesel this morning.
Unleaded was at 138. something.

It makes me feel sick every time I need to fill up now. It used to cost me £75 to fill my Jeep up, now it costs about £110
My Polo used to cost £35 to fill up and now it's £56-60
