Has anyone else started bringing in their horses overnight again yet?

Am resisting the urge to bring mine in; its been tiddling down with rain here most of the day - but dammit its got to stop raining sometime.... and TBH I just can't be faffed with a load of mucking out in the morning (especially on a Monday/working day). So I've shoved them both out with rugs on, they'll just have to curl up behind the hedge.

Tho' I shall probably regret that decision if/when I hear the rain thrashing against my bedroom window in the middle of the night - and think of my poor horses out there in it.

Blimmin weather. Welcome to winter folks.

I got dragged in by my boy when I went to bring him in, so fingers crossed he won't be stressing tomorrow morning and I will have made the right decision by bringing him in. He seemed rather happy with his hay when I left, but the first few nights are always a bit of a worry!

My 2 started coming in on Friday night as it dropped down to 2 degrees here. My gelding hates the rain and being cold so hes quite happy in his stable. Was planning on bringing in at the end of the month but they are both quite happy now they come in. Plus my gelding thrives on his winter routine.

I'm a bit sporadic at the moment. Occasionally enjoying the odd lie-in at the weekend or a Monday morning when I know I will be going up to ride or I have ridden ;-)

It won't be long though - I too like the winter routine and find it much easier to exercise when she is in as she is very good as always grazing at the far side of the field whenever I want to ride early in the morning!

Mine have been coming in on a night for the past 3-4 weeks, due to lack of grazing in geldings field, and my mare has a bit of mud-fever so trying to keep on top of that to.

I dont mind mucking out etc, so makes no difference to me being in or being out. :)

Mine have been in at night for a week, though i've not yet cleared out their stables or laid their winter beds yet. Im swapping stables as some liveries have moved off so it'll be an easy job this year! Just need to buy in my straw, dig out all my rugs and gear myself up for early cold mornings =/

Yep I started to bring in last week to get back into a routine, he's had a good time out well since being with me anyway (2mths) he was quite happy yest in his stable chomping away at his net (he was brought in early by another livery) i was aware as weather turned viel, he didn't care one bit, I got up to do him in evening and he was happy enough had his cotton sheet on chilled out to the max.
I even left his door wide open whilst I was getting grooming kit at front of stable and nope didn't bother doing a runner so knew he was happy in there.

Out today though wearing his l/w.

I've just brought my lot in to hopefully dry off. Yesterday was cold and blustery but dry until 5pm then it rained lightly all night until about 7 this morning (and I felt guilty!) when heavens opened but I still had to go up and catch them, if they want to come in they're usually racing to the gate. They're in chomping hay so quite happy for now.

Yeah, mine has been in at night for the last 2 weeks. When your horse is standing at the gate waiting to come in from 4pm and thinks of every excuse going to avoid being put out again after tea then there is something wrong. In this case a stupid/greedy YO who thinks a 2 acre field can support 11 horses. There hasn't been any grass all summer and it has cost me a fortune in feed.

Mine were out all weekend but I bought them in yesterday lunch time and they were both VERY happy about this. They've gone out this morning and they'll come in tonight. If the weather picks up by the end of the week they can stay out for the weekend.

My wussy TB's have been in for around 2 weeks at night now!! It's just turned so cold and that coupled with the frequent downpours just meant it was easier for me to sleep knowing they were in warm and dry!!
Last year they were out till the end of October.... In fact I even bathed them both with cold water in early October it was still so hot!!!!

I think our yard will be making the switch over to winter grazing this weekend. It means Cobby will now be in overnight, and in 2 full days a week.

I left mine out last night, brought him in for a few hours today as it was tipping down, and put him out again at 5pm for the night. So the stable is starting to get use, but just at odd times when the weather is at it's worst! Hoping it will be a few more weeks before he is in every night. He was in a lot longer this spring than normal as the ground was so wet and then he had 6 weeks box rest in summer, so don't feel I've really re-charged my batteries! I'm normally really happy to have him back in at night but I am not ready yet!

Nope - still out. Ex-racer is a hard nut now after 7 years in real life and irish bog pony a hardy sort. Both have rugs on as it's been rather wet last couple of days. Rode both this evening and they were happy to go back out at 8pm after tea in their stables. Not raining and relatively warm in the South East this evening.

Hope I can leave them out until 1st December as HATE mucking out before work!

It's disgusting here one in as I was toying with going to the hound s in the morning one out with shed .
And too with no shed should I go and rescue them ?
One has rug one has not not sure what to do.
