Now would I be a Kentish lass, or a lass of Kent?

Left their neds out 24/7 and naked?

Fat Cob is probably cursing my uselessness as we speak, but she's fat enough you can't feel her ribs, got enough fluff that you can't feel the fat covering the ribs, ad lib hay and a shelter.

Am I really rather cruel? Or just realistic when it comes to keeping an au natural cob?

Yes my yearling is out 24/7, naked and very happy. Plenty to eat and natural shelter, comes originally from the Pyrenees so I reckon the weather we are having here is just the norm out there, I don't feel cruel whatsoever

Naah your realistic, I go past three little grey ponies everyday on my way to and from work and it has really made me smile during this weather to see them perfectly happy in their snowy field with their fluffy coats.

They have lots of hay, but only shelter from hedges and dry stone walls, and they look very content! I bet your cob is the same.

Our little welsh A is out 24/7 she loves it... She has a stable if she needs it but prefers to stay out.. Here's a pic (hope it works..)

Phew!

Because by comparison, baby Milo who is, let me remind, part highland pony, is living it up in a stable, in a barn, in rugs, and hasn't been outside for goodness knows how long because the yard is frozen!

IMO... I know which horse I'd rather be!

But seems the people in this thread are the only ones... *feels evil*

Here's to the "My horse is abandoned naked in the snow" clique!

We used to keep our cobs out au natural, my mare was in her younger days. We lived in wales in the mountains and the weather was pretty rubbish there in winter. Our horses were all happy and healthy without rugs.

Personally I think there are alot of over rugged cobs out there

Mine would be if i hadn't clipped him. But the other two in my field are, both natives but one is 25 and he's managing just fine.
