Has anyone ever bought a Riding School or Ex Riding School Pony/Horse

She was supposed to be 6 when we bought her but i found paperwork a few years later to say she was nearer 12.
she was used to getting her own way with people, so if she wanted to snack whilst out hacking she did, if she wanted to run away when you were leading her she did.

we sorted out the snacking on hacks very quickly, though never really got it through to her that she couldnt run off when she wanted when being lead - tried everything from chains to bits, not much made a difference to her, the only trhing that did was old age and she couldnt be bothered.

we did everything with her from local showing to ODE, SJ and lots of hunting. she went into an easy life 7years after we bought her, retired completely 3yrs later and then PTS 2 years later

I bought Taran from a trekking centre two years ago and he is the best horse I have ever owned. He is a reg. Welsh Cob, they bought him from the Royal Welsh Cob sales when he was a yearling and used him as a Stallion for a couple of years before breaking him to use for treks, so he hadn't really done much apart from hack. He is the most genuine horse, very honest and will try his heart out for anyone. I think he has really come into his own since he has had just one person riding him.

i bought my first pony from a riding school and i would never do it again.
he was lovely when i rode and hacked him at the riding school, the perfect pony! i even had him on loan there for 6 months before i bought him.

as soon as we bought him and moved yard and he was out of the routine he turned horrendous! constant rearing and napping and running backwards resulting in lots of trips to A&E.
he was very insecure by himself or even hacking in company if he couldn't just follow the tail in front.

i would never do it again as i have heard many horror stories very similar to mine.
