Has anyone ever made their own haybar?

My Oh is going to make one for my lad, much cheaper than buying a plastic one. I don't want to put hay on the floor because my lad kicks it into the bed and won't eat it after. My hay bar will be fitted low in the corner and wooden bars with maybe netting across the front, can't make my mind up in what's the best way to allow him to trickle feed using this way..

My OH made all ours, but they are just planks across a corner of the stable so no 'trickle' just stuffing ! (especailly in this cold!)

My OH made mine, very simple. A 2" x 2" baton fixed vertically on each wall. Then a piece of ply cut to size slides behind them. The ply can then be slid in and out for cleaning the floor.

I made mine, a plastic composter turned upside down and then fix to the wall with battons.
