I have a maiden mare that at the beginning of the week had a small white spot on her udder. Not the teat, but the udder itself just on one side. When I touched it it began to drain yellow-ish clear fluid and has not stopped. Contacted two different repro vets and both had never seen but said it might be edema fluid that is draining through the whole ? The mare is at day 342
and I don’t know how to stop the drainage or if I even should. I tried a patch, liquid bandaid, and super clue as recommended by the vet. I worry about mastitis if I close it and bad milk production if I don’t. I’m at a loss here. It drains continually and the whole is about as big as the end of a pencil . It’s so small you can barely see it. When you do see it, it’s an incredibly small white dot that is draining quite a good amount of “serum” as the vet called it. Anyone have advice or suggestions ?
