Has anyone experienced this before?

Hi,
Before it’s mentioned vet is coming out on Wednesday.
I have a 9 year old Shetland pony, he lives out and only comes in for short periods of time while my other horse is ridden(he’s a companion but won’t stay out on his own)

He’s had a cough for almost a month now, he coughs up mucus and has a snotty nose. He’s fully vaccinated and the yard has a strict quarantine system, I don’t think he could of caught anything.

Im thinking along the lines of asthma or COPD. Has anyone experienced things like this coming to the surface later in life?

Yes, they can get allergies later on in life. Their lungs can become more compromised with age and illness/general ill health too.

I am sure the vet will be able to advise.
