My lad has a cough, vet has seen him says its a virus. When he neighs he sounds like he has a sore throat. Just wondered if anyone had used it. And would it be ok giving it to a horses who had recently suffered from laminitis. As i should imagine it contains lots of sugar.

I give my old man cough medicine daily throughout winter, normal tickly cough syrup unless he is really bad then i get him dermoline soothing cough syrup. He hasnt had an adverse reaction to it ever however you are probably right to be wary with recently coming through lami. Possibly take a trip to local tack shop and see what they recomend...i like the dermoline stuff...its like treacle!!

If it's a virus the only thing that will cure it is time. But if he has a sore throat (keep an eye on it as it could lead to a secondary bacterial infection which might need antibx) then any good quality cough syrup could help soothe it for a short while at least. You don't need to pay extortionate prices for equi-cough stuff - Boots own will work just the same at a fraction of the price.

I've used Kofeeze before. My little boy's pony loved it. She would have it squeezed into her mouth from the big toothpaste tube that it comes in. It did work with her and smelt lovely - like buttercup syrup which I remember as a child.
