Has anyone got 30s to fill out dissertation Q on lunging? :-)

Done, and I loke that I could review the results, even though there only seem to be 4 of us who have completed it as yet.

The question on how often I lunge was difficult as I don't really lunge in summer when I can have a more varied program. Lungeing tends to be for winter when we can't get out and about so much, and Jay can be rather frisky when he is cold and fresh from less work! Maybe the question could be for summer and again for winter? I don't suppose I am the only one with a different summer/winter program.

Done, I lunge each once a week the day before I want to ride so he can get any extra energy out without me being onboard :) he can buck to his hearts content, only need to do this in winter.

Done, but the numbers pick list on the last question would not work for me unless I wanted to do them in the order they were listed in the survey.

Done - I'm a non lunger and would have chosen the last two options of qu8, don't agree with it and see no benefit.

What's it for out of interest?

I lunge in close conjunction with long reining. For example we'll walk up to the top field and then I readjust to lunge, as I long rein with a roller and serrata when not off the farm. If that makes sense.
Basically if we're doing a lunging/ session from the ground we'll do a bit in the "school" (denuded bit of ground with sand on!) then stretch out in a relaxed walk. Perhaps a bit of collected in hand/ spanish walk silliness. Then we'll do some different lunge work in the top field.
I don't do round and round and round for the whole session.
Err I don't know if any of that's helpful. Just wanted to expand on my answers.

Edit: also because I can wear one of my kids at the same time and that helps me convince someone to keep an eye on the other!

Lunging is great for me to help exercise my children's ponies when they are not able to ride enough in winter. I do however feel it is essential to have lessons in order to do it correctly and beneficially.

Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to fill out :-)

Apologies too I tried to cover all aspects and doh! totally forgot that maybe you'd like to lunge but couldn't for health reasons but I guess my stand is more part of a training perspective!

Basically my research (undergraduate) is based on the kinematics of the horse (comparing lunging aids with/ without). The questionnaire is a pre cursor for this in terms of what's being done.

Thank you all so much.

I've done it. Had to go for the last option on page 2, but would have preferred a "Don't lunge for medical reasons" option, as my horse has spavins/PSD, so lunging is banned.

Done, however my version of lunging involves using an entire 30m x 60m school and constantly moving up and down with plenty of straight lines, not the BHS perfect circle. I think you'd fail a lunging exam for running alongside the horse while it canters large!
