ive just had my mare covered by a 15.3 coloured dutch warmblood stallion called zesiro, and he has ferro/samber lines, whereas my mare is believed to be cob x welsh d,although she has no proof of this. does the foal take after more of the mare or the stallion? or does it depend? i know you cant predict anything where foals are concerned but would like to know what sort of stamp im likely to be expecting if she gets in foal.

this is jazz shes 14.1 (just) and shes 15

i have a 2 yr old 3/4 tb 1/4 coloured cob gelding , he stands 14.2 at mo he definatly has more cob in him than tb although he moves beautifully , floats along , i,d say hes taken after dad more but who knows lol its a lottery when mixing breeds

i know, i want something that i can affiliate on eventually, so gotta make over 15hands really, maybe if it doesnt i couldnt put it on stilts?! lol

ooh - I liked the look of Zesiro when I saw him last year!!! Unfortunately by then the mare was already in foal (although not unfortunately now as foal is stunning!). My mare is a 15.2hhcoloured Welsh D x cob - not quite as heavy as your girl tho but similar. I put her in foal to El Thuder, who is a young Holstein SJ stallion and this is what we got:

Hope that this helps

Meant to say that the foal moves like the WB - with a bit of the welsh extravagance thrown in - so we are very very pleased with the result. He will most likely go on to at least a career as WH or a really decent Juniors horse

Good luck with getting a foal over 15hh out of those 2 horses, it seems less than likely to me but you never know, stranger things have happened. The stud should be able to tell you what height of horse the stallion has produced previously.

Is the mare a really good jumper then? I assume she had something about her (other than unknown breeding) to cause you to take a foal off her that you want to affilate?

I think you will get a cracking foal from the combination he does have a lovely pedigree by Paddox out of a Samber mare. Pat is a very dear friend and a few of our horses are now with her, the lovely Victoria and her yearling colt by Umenno and Wonderful Day. Would love to see the Cleveland Bays too one day as have always had a softspot for them.

Like event rider, our mare was a bit lighter to your gal, but this is what we got from the warmblood x cob of unknown breeding and would definitely breed the same combination again as Teenie is a cracking wee sports pony, full up 14.2hh by Umenno out of Kwik, a black and white cob, lovely paces and a fab wee pop on her, entering her for the three year old SSH pony loose jumping championships this year.

She looks nothing like her sire apart from a few hairs on her heels which we trim off

The coloured in my siggy is out of a 14.1 coloured cob x mare by a friesian stallion! The mare wasnt particularly heavy and the stallion more of the modern sporty type friesians and my boys turned out quite sports horse like. He's 6 now, has leveled off at just over 16hh and has a cracking jump.

I put my ID X mare in foal to a TB /sports horse and he is like his father. I too wanted a finer foal that my mare and that is what I got..................

i will do! that pont is gorgeous!!! pat is great, she has been nothing but helpful to me with her, as shes been difficult to get into season, took 2 injections to get her into season this moment in time shes running with him in the field, apparently he covered her twice in the first day which is good, just keeping my fingers crossed for a foal!

victoria is a beautiful mare! i love her! i dont think she has got any clevelands there anymore, i think the stallion is on loan, i havent seen any though!

have you met the zesiro? hes the most placid lovely stallion ive ever met! hes so lovely!

im really hoping to get something bigger but i know its not definate. this is only his second season at stud so we dont know how big his foals grow! think shes the smallest mare hes covered too so who knows.

jazz is an excellent jumper, im not just saying that cos shes mine, alot of people have said so for her height, she regularly competed the highest of unaffiliated classes against horses and won, shes quick, scopey, and brave, she moves beatuifully, has good conformation, has a wonderful tempermant, and is healthy, but she has bone spavin, and i cant do showjumping with her anymore, so i want her to have a few foals before shes too old (she has had a foal before)

such a shame that shes not registered as it would be better!
