Has anyone had accupuncture/homeopathy on their horse?

Has anyone had accupuncture/homeopathy on their horse?
I am writing a feature on it and would love to hear from anyone who has had either treatment, especially if they claimed the cost back on their insurance.

I have had acupuncture done on my horse, hes an old boy and really gets very sore in his back. After a fall he had in his trailer we got our vet out who does acupuncture as well and the insurance did pay out for it, i think it was because it was done by a vet.

He didn't like the needles at first, but absolutely loved it by the end of the session, i think it must give them a real 'feel good' feeling.

All of our eventers have it regularly when they are competing, particularly one who has raced and tends to get a bit blocked through his body.
Found it very beneficial and they seem to tolerate it well, although they will be sedated if they need lots of needles. Our insurance pays for the ex-racer as he has it to help with an ear condition

I had it done on my old mare (acupuncture) and it went very badly. She hated it. After two sessions she finally said no, following that it took four of us to hold her in order to sedate her and I opted out of vaccinating her so as nt to stress her.
Hence why she had to be PTS with the gun as the needle became too traumatic for her. She'd never had a poblem with injections before.
Think hers is a rare case as I know lots of horses tolerate it but thought it was worth mentioning.
