I've just bought a pair of Dublin River boots and they're in great condition but the lining has ripped in one of them and it makes getting the boot on almost impossible! Has anyone managed to repair the lining at all?
Thanks

Can you put some photos on here so we can see the problem?
Oz

If I could get a decent photo I would but the tear is deep inside the boot right on the ankle at the back. When my heel reaches the tear it gets stuck but when I do eventually get my foot in the lining that should be behind my heel and ankle is under my foot. It's not a straight tear and it's in such an awkward place that it'd be hard to stitch....so frustrating!
Does anyone know of any sticky patches that might do the job?
Thanks :)

I've got exactly the same problem. the rip is where my heel would be and so as I slide my foot down the boot, it catches and is really uncomfortable. I contacted Dublin who deny that there is a problem with the design and it must be me not putting the boots on properly. What absolute rubbish. We all know they're a poor design.

I can just about get the boot on with a very long show horn but its not ideal.

I can't see any way of repairing it.

I see, sounds like it's the seam. Yes, awkward place!
I've hand stitched inside boots but not my favourite job, if you have a go yourself use a small curved mattress needle. Some cobblers may do it for you,Oz :)

Having suffered with this problem in nearly every pair of riding boots ive owned, Ive found the best way is to wear a plastic bag on your foot, slides in and out quite easily then.

I bought a pair last summer and within 2 months the lining on the inside of the right boot was torn as you say making it impossible to get the boot on!! I contacted Dublin and was told to contact the retailer who asked me to send the boots back for assessment. They then sent me a brand new pair free of charge which have been fine and have lasted very well through Winter. The tear in mine was really low down near the heel of the boot so not sure whether repairing would be very easy?

I, a lover and supporter of dublin river boots, ate my words after my post on sunday!!!!
Put my foot into the boot and riiiiiipppppp... although boots do have a short life with me I tried really hard with these, they were reproofed and cleaned regulary and only ever got pulled off with a boot pull but still ripped. It wasn't quite acceptable for a 5/6month £120 pair of boots!!

I didn't bother trying to repair, I rang the saddlery I got them from (Horseattack in milton keynes, cannot recommend them enough!!!) and they replaced the boots without a receipt or box. I have a big smile on my face now :D Hopefully this pair will do me better.. Good luck! maybe you could try taking them back as well?

Hey, i was gonna buy these lol but in the end i saved up a bit more and bought some mountain horse high riders lol!! Thy still seem nice enough boots tho! x

its a massive flaw in the boot design! my lining came out and i couldnt even get my foot out, i had to cut the foot of the lining off! very annoyed as i paid £115 for them! wont be buying another pair!

I have a pair of these, and although mine have not ripped (touch wood) the lining has stretched. I only wear mine for casual use in the inter, and rarely on a yard, but even still, they still get put on and taken off the same way!
I bought mine 18 months ago, and I think because I had read about this issue, maybe I've been more careful with them?

I think its bad of Dublin to deny all knowledge of this issue!

Can;t you get socks that are designed to use with long boots, making it easier to put on/take off? Think MH do them??

I've done it! Mine ripped within about 4 days of owning them. I just rolled the boot down on itself, reasonably easy to do. Although I did have to wear a head torch as difficult to see where to start. I did this last august and they've been fine since!

I wouldn;t be bothering with repairing them, I'd be sending them back for a replacement as others seem to have done.

Dublin are well aware of this or they wouldn;t be replacing them. Apparently the problem has been rectified with newer models.....I hope so as I shelled out £150 on the pinnacle boots!

Same problem here, although my issue was actually getting my feet out of the boot - they were getting caught in the lining and couldn't get them off, a total b ache!

I ended up cutting a hole in the lining to get my foot out, a bit extreme but I'd had them too long to send back. Seem ok now though.

I haven't got a box or a receipt and they were bought from a stand at a show so I can't take them back! WI guess if I contact Dublin they will tell me to return them to the seller but I can't so I'm up s**t creek without a paddle I suppose!

I'm really surprised to hear about this! I have a pair of Dublin Rivers and I always say they are the best £120 I ever spent. So comfy and really well made (or so I thought!)
Haven't had my lining rip, I've had them just under a year I think and they have had regular use. (not every day.)
Hope I haven't jinxed myself and my lining rips next time I put them on... but if it does I now know to just roll the boot down on itself and dig out my headtorch :D

Mine suffered the exact same problem and I have managed to fix them.
Bostik make a fabric glue called sewsimple which sticks in one minute. I cut a patch which (after a bit of fiddling around) I positioned over the rip in the lining. It's holding so far:)

I have just today ordered my second pair of River boots. My last pair I have had for two years and they are still going strong- no leaks, rips or any problems and they have had pretty much daily use around a muddy yard and stable.

I ordered the second pair as a "smart" pair as the others are decidedly scruffy but still going strong. Maybe I've been lucky.

I tried the Toggi Canyon boots a couple of months ago as I'd read good things about them on here but I can't click with them- they are too baggy around the ankle and rub the back of my heel so will be going on ebay as they are hardly worn as a result. My Dublins are like a pair of slippers :D

Hi, I managed to get a refund from the shop even though boots about 4 months old after seeing so many other people had problems too. Topped up and bought Ariats!

I have the same problem with mine, although only the right boot! Always gets stuck on my foot, i now have to wear plastic bags on my feet, not what you expect when you spend over 100 quid on a pair of boots but it does the job!
