We have an ifor williams trailer 505 that has a solid wood floor but would like to replace it with an aluminium one. Has anyone done this?my husband is good at this sort of thing as does similar for his job so is very capable. Im Really wondering if there is a floor kit available and costs?many thanks for any help

I had mine replaced by a IW dealer about 7/8 years ago. Was very reasonable, about £350, and they did it in half a day. Probably best to get in touch with your local dealer for advise :)

Had my 505 done by Ifor Williams too. It was £395 I think for the kit to do yourself or an extra £150 for them to fit. We toyed with the idea of DIY but I wanted to feel 100 % sure it was done safely.

Why do you want to replace it with aluminium? Both can fail, but you can check if a wooden floor is beginning to rot by sticking a screw driver into it (particularly round the edges) to find any 'soft spots'. Aluminium failure is harder to spot - they just go. Main advantage of aluminium is weight (or lack of it). Just a thought.

Remember you can't put ally straight onto other metals (not sure which) as there is a chemical reaction which corrodes the ally
