Has anyone 'swapped' horses?

Do you mean permanently or as a loan?

If you mean as a loan then I'd get a proper loan agreement for both parties (the BHS one seems to be well thought of, I have never done a loan agreement so can't speak from experience).

If permanent, I would buy the other horse (and sell yours to the other person) for a token amount.

If you think she'll be a good home for yours and you think hers will sort you then I guess it's just like a normal sale, I'd make sure to get them both vetted though to make sure all parties are happy before you go ahead.

Sorry, its a permanent sale type thing?

I have a set price what i want for mine, and so does the other lady, so we've sorted out the money side of things....but i was wondering what made it official? or like what would stop either of us (i know i wouldnt) demanding the horse back, or making out it was stolen etc?
I may just be being paranoid, but these days you dont know who to trust

I wouldn't treat it as a swap - more as a 'you have bought a horse, I have bought a horse, it just happens we bought them from each other' arrangement. Hence selling for a token £1, and giving receipts. Obviously get passports and change ownership details - basically do things exactly the same as you would if you were buying or selling a horse as normal.

My horse's previous owner did a straight swap. It obviously didn't work out for my horse's previous owner though! I don't think they did anything to make it official.
