Has anyone tried attaching a curb strap to their myler snaffle??

I know they are designed to do this and i just wondered if anyone had tried. My boy show jumps well in his myler snaffle but XC it is not enough so i use a rubber pelham. I can stop him in this but he tends to lean a bit and tucks his head into his chest. I just wondered if the myler would work with some sort of curb as it does normally give me better steering! Any ideas?
 
I used to use a myler comfort snaffle with the D-rings and slots and I got some hooks that attached to the tiny hole behind the slot where the cheekpieces attached. However i found the curb chain sat in an odd place - a lot higher than the chin groove. I decided in the end to get a myler kimblewick - the curb sits better with the kimblewick - I use a small leather curb 'chain' with that because the "easy links" you get with mylers curbed bits are quite big and so you don't need as long a chain as you think - thats what I found anyway. I find the kimblewick perfect to jump my horse - I used to jump her in a sprenger pelham with a kk ultra link but found she went overbent and TBH I felt I didn't always have enough finesse with 2 reins if she suddenly put a big jump in or something. I ride her on the top rein only on the kimblewick and find thats enough to give me control SJ. She can still be a bit strong XC though. You can get some curb hooks cheaply enough from someone like Robinsons or easy links from myler if you wanted to give it a try.
 
Thanks, its nice to hear someone has tried it. I also thought i could try and find a way of attaching a leather back strap rather than a curb chain. Will have to look into it.
 
I had a very similar problem and tried a curb chain on my myler snaffle but the curb sits no where near the curb groove and was ineffective, i tried a myler combination bit in stead with the same mouthpiece and was much happier with that.

[/ QUOTE ] I found the exact same problem it just wasnt right and didnt have any real effect on my mare. i changed completely and tried a full cheek snaffle with hooks. she seemed to like this more but brakes still arnt what they should be but we stop eventually! lol
