has anyone tried 'bit butter' or 'gold labels' tasty bit'? As the title says really. Was interested to see the results of these products as the bit butter is something I am considering trying to see if it makes my mares mouth any softer and more responsive

I tried bit butter, didn't heal/prevent the split in corner of my horses mouth & I didn't feel it made any differance regarding being more responsive. But I have threads on here where people did feel it really helped.

I used some of a friends yesterday and have now ordered some! Mine was getting 'chapped' lips which it being so cold and because she plays in her water constantly... It's cleared it up already

dollymix, thats quite cute, I have never heard of a horse getting chapped lips lol.

Very much considering buying some. For my mare its just to see if she will accept the bit and mouth more, and I look after a friends mare who has the softest mouth ever which regularly gets small cuts on the corners! Poor mare is ridden in one of the soft rubber snaffles but nothing seems to prevent it, we have tried putting vaseline on the corners of her mouth before she gets ridden. Trouble is she can get strong and if her mouth could cope she would definalty have a stronger bit in.

I use bit butter is lovely to use on the corners of there mouths and I used it on the bit of a horse which was a bit stressey about the bit and it worked a treat.
