Have just been watching Countryfile :p :D and I was wondering who had tried Le Trec and what their experiences were.

I would love to give it a go! :)

I've signed up for a training day here in Kent on 10th April, looking forward to it, although a bit apprehensive.

No, I have not tried it yet but would love to one day. My girl is a bit too old and has too many foot problems to start it up now, but one day when I can afford another youngster I would love to, totally up my street :)

Haha yes, the control part might not go too well ;)
They didn't show my favourite obstacles on there :( did anyone else see Kelly Marks doing Le Trec? Cant remember where I saw that now

I'd like to have a go at endurance riding too!

And I dont have a horse to do these things with! :(

Blast !! missed it and we can't get the playback here .

In answer to your question , yes I do Trec here in Ireland , I just love it ,
Myself and a friend who had never done it before won the Level 1 National Champs here . Hers mostly does Dressage and lives on a busy yard which is a working farm so sees lots of different things
A horse who can do a Preliminary or Novice Dressage test has an advantage IMHO just because they are easier "steered" , will walk when asked, and are reasonably obedient.
Most horses will jump the few obstacles that need jumping, I might not though:eek:.

That is what I love about it I usually leave out the low branches, mounting and any jump I don't like. You just get zero if you leave something out. In competition you get a selection from the obstacles and I might be lucky and not have the ones I leave out.

Are you doing a full three part Trec ? Have fun!

You can have my mare aka devil features ;)
Her list of things to do this year include le trec and endurance - just need to get her fat arse into a fit one! :p

"Devil features" hehe..shes not that bad surely? :p :D

Shes not the only one with a fat arse, I abused food a lot this Christmas :D
Roll on the summer, nice warm weather is so much more motivating! I hope you manage to have a go at both of them this year!

Have a look on the BBC iPlayer website in about half an hour maybe? It should be on there, fingers crossed!

Oh well done! Thank you for the advice too :) I dont think I'd be very good at the low branches... :D

If I was to do it then I think I would do the full three part after some training. It sounds good fun!

I've given up showing for this year and am having a go at Trec. (It's now BHS TREC not Le Trec!)

Have been to a couple of training days and an indoor comp and have got my first orienteering day coming up next week. There's not much local to me though so have to make the most of every oportunity.

Fingers crossed for iplayer as after waiting for it every week, hubby beat me to the remote tonight and was watching the other side.

Orienteering is my horror, I stipulate I will ride in a Team, not as an Individual !!
Have just ordered a whistle for when I get lost seriously.
Having a training day here in France on Sunday, not only do I not speak the language...!!

My friend gave it a go few years back and became welsh champion ! she really enjoyed it

Take a look at the Horse Hero web site - they have several vids on there I believe about Trec. I helped at a RC level one last year and it was good fun to watch let alone compete in but they did not do the orienteering bit and that looks excellent fun.

I would love to have a go with my mare but she is still too green really to do this... mind you, it would be kill or cure!
