Has anyone tried Rowan Barburys "solution" ready mash??

Hi there,

Ater much disscussion and debate on another thread I am thinking that this feed is going to be good for my highly strung TB that's struggling to put on weight. Just wondering if anyone has fed this?

Yes, as the horse had a lost a lot of weight and less expensive conditioning feeds hadn't worked. Ready Mash didn't work, either, as the horse was very stressed at the time and I doubt anything would have put a lot of weight on her. I moved her to a less stressful situation and that did work.

In any case, Ready Mash worked for another horse at the yard (who didn't spend all day pacing the fenceline) and it didn't make the horses hot. Worth trying, maybe.
 
Ive considered trying it but my gelding didnt like fast fibre, he didnt like the fact it was a sloppy mash, so i dont think he would eat it, althought i sounds like it could work.
 
I trialled it. Obi thought it was poison and refused to even look at it :o
The Tank (who isn't usually fan of any bucket feed) thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.

It put a lovely bloom on his coat but at £16 a bag I wasn't willing to use it........
 
I have ordered mine for a tb too, and very keen to start it at the weekend :) shall keep you updated. I had phoned rowen Barbary and asked for samples just to make sure he will eat it before i ordered it, they were so helpful.
 
I am using the red bag 'Soft n Soak' extra mash on an injured and barn/small paddock resting big horse (17.2). He is a picky feeder.

He likes the stuff, but I find it impossible to get enough into him to maintain his weight.
 
Well I tried it on him today and my word, he loves it!!! Fingers crossed that this mash will put some weight on him...whilst keeping him nice and calm at the same time! Wish me luck

I used to feed the ready mash I think it was, my horse suddenly stopped eating it. He has had various feeds since then,. this is years ago, and has now decided he doesn't like what he's currently getting. so have requested some samples from them for the solution mash as i find it hard to get oil into him if i feel like he needs it as he's 34. His weight does fluctuate so I like to have a feed I can increase/decrease as necessary. He is a bit of a monkey, I think its because a friends horse has to have a small bran mash every day since being ill few months ago, I think he's smelt them doing it and is throwing a strop. Unfortunately can leave the feed in there all day and he will not eat it, he will have a huff on and stand on his bed and refuse to eat whatever it is you are offering lol. so I'm waiting for the samples as idealy I'd like the solution mash, but with the added herbs he might think I am poisoning him and refuse to eat it so we'll see
 
I've used readymash extra for my 33 year old pony for 4 years now. I use it with fast fibre, sugarbeet and dengi hifi senior and she's really held her weight.
 
Mine is an elderly good doer and he is on ready fibre mash and loves it. The elderly Shetland that has lost some teeth and had gone poor was put on ready mash extra last year and he soon put weight back on and looks great now.
 
I used to feed Ready Mash Extra to my very elderly picky as hell mare, she loved it to bits and it certainly helped maintain her weight.
 
My old TB hunted off it all winter. I can't say he put weight on but he certainly didn't lose it and he was working very hard.

It was the only feed I found that really suited him as starch sent him loopy and he couldn't even cope with Calm and Condition which is my default winter tb feed :D
