im thinking about buying one of the new fresha tank disk things has anyone tried them?
they have really good reviews in magazines but sometimes its not true, is it?

I was quite tempted to try one but our biggest problem is that some big bird of prey is using our trough as a toilet so have to clean it out every day anyway. Don't think it would help with that!

I have. Totally unimpressed, but I have received an email saying that we are experiencing an unusualy high algae bloom this year. They just sent it to everyone who has bought one.

thanks for the replies:D

absolute diva, is your tank under a tree that could be your probem the bird may be roosting above your tank

I have one. I'm not as impressed as I had hoped to be but having said that I'm not cleaning trough out as much as I did last year.

I have tried it and have been quite impressed, considering you don't need chemicals :). The water has definitely stayed cleaner. I contacted the manufacturer because I did have some algae but I was told that algae is so prolific in the hot weather that it would clear, but it would take time. So far that has been true - there is definitely less algae and the water seems cleaner. I also found the manufacturer willing to help.

Are we on about fish ponds or field troughs here? My fish pond is almost choked with the stuff. My fishies are happy as the water is gin clear and it is oxygenating the water. They reckon barley straw in the water 'does for' blanket weed. What is 'feeding' it? It's a symptom of sunlight, nutrients and water temp all in the right proportions. I've had fish for ten years and never had it like this...

They are sold for use in all water containers, you need to make sure you have enough discs for the size of trough/tank/vase.
I have three troughs, two are next to each other and one further down the same field. All in the same troughs, in the same conditions, all cleaned at the same time. Disc placed in one trough. This is the filthies greenest trough now.
