Has anyone tried the injection that helps cartilage to grow?

I don't know what it's called. The vet said he might try it with Lolly. You don't inject the joint, just into a muscle and it helps grow cartilige in all joints. He says sometimes it works and sometimes not.
 
My horse had a course of Adequan for bone spavin, and come sound between injections 5 and 6 (of 7). Still sound a good few months later - if required I would repeat the treatment again.
 
I think Cartrophen is the newer version, adequan was the original. My horse is starting a course of injections on Tuesday. They are into the muscle as you say. She is having them for ringbone. She is going to have 1 injection per week for 4 weeks and then if they work will need an injection every 6 months going forward

My vet says you can either get really good results or nothing happens at all. Fingers crossed mine is one of the ones to respond positively

Eeek - I did 7 injections, 6 of them myself (forst by vet) - I think it was a couple of hundred pounds for the drugs themselves? Insurance paid, so I havent got a record?
 
Someone's horse I know had a course of 7 Adequan jabs she did 6 of them herself instead of having the vet out. They made a difference in her mare!

For a box of 7 Adequan it cost £300
 
My mare with severe cartlidge damage has cartophen annually - makes a big difference and I can tell when she needs it!

Couple hundred quid but I've always been lucky that someone on the yatrd has always been able to do the jabs.
 
Is it Cartophen into the muscle and adequan into the joints? I think it is
had 2 horses had the joint ones for different things stifle and withers both worked well never needed repeating either
 
I used Adequan into the muscle. Makes it relitively easy to inject yourself, as well, keeping call out costs to a minimum.
