Just wondering if any of you have tried to do the Olympic eventing dressage test and how you thought it rode? Am tempted to give it a little try tomorrow on my new horse (not the 3 year old, lol)

I really enjoyed watching the dressage but thought it odd that a few bay and chestnut horses were wearing a brown bridle but a black saddle

Do you think they get a new bridle as part of their respective teams and are told to wear it?

Ha ha cat in hell's chance, We are only just thinking about doing a novice test, but since some of the prelims are still too scary for us I think it'll be a while before I'm riding flying changes and counter canter on Frankie!!

It has inspired me to get my shoulder in sorted out though!

I'd have a go if i had my own horse. Prob have to do progressive canter-halt transition and simple canter changes oh and half-pass would become a leg yeild so for there to be enough space omit the straight up the centre line between.

I would do if I hadn't just retired my pony, well everything other than the half pass and flying change (well not all of them) and sadly my horse isn't up for it, I will do the trot work then in a month do the canter part of the test. I will report back nex year how it came together

PMSL yes! It is the dressage test I know the best after watching it being done so many times LOL! Sadly I only have a 20 x 40 so it was a little adapted and my fly changes are rather late, half pass is more leg yield, etc, etc although our walk to canter transitions are very good - all done in a very SJ way!

Maybe we should all get ourselves videoed doing it

ha ha - yes great idea - we should have our own H & H Olympics and video ourselves! Started my period so gave the test a miss today but may try tomorrow (well, today - stayng up for rthe XC!). I can ride all the elements seperatly but they come up quite quickly in the test and I share my horse so haven't done an awful lot of schooling with her yet. It is nice to have a goal to work towards whe schooling even if you can only do bits of the test now, you can look back in 6 months and see you can do a lot more of it than you used to
