No, but I have looked into it for my Pajero - I'm not sure that I would have the time to do it properly, including filling in the declaration etc so that its all 'legal' tax-wise.

All diesels should run well on veg oil but unless you have a costly conversion you need to thin it with something, ordinary diesel is fine. They say a 50/50 mix for summer and 70/30 in Winter should work well.

The Inland Revenue have apparently said that you only have to declare using more than 2500 litres a year for taxation but I can't find anything on their website, in plain English, to back this up.

I'm seriously tempted to put it in my horsebox but will be interested to hear it from the Inland Revenue, anybody on here work for them or have a contact?

A friend of ours uses fish and chip shop used oil, if you stand behind his van whilst the engine is running, it really makes you hungry

Do you mean biofuel or pure vegetable oil?

Biofuel is supposed to be very similar to use as normaly diesel and you don't need a conversion. However, it 'may' do long term damage to an engine if used a lot.

my ex-boyfriend used to use veggie oil in his 4x4 - he ran it 50/50 with diesel and then fitted it with a fuel heater and ran 100% veggie oil - without the heater you can only run about 30% veggie oil in winter as when it gets cold it clogs up. summer can get away with more like 60%. it's not evading tax providing you dont use more than 2500 litres a year - the inland revenue has definitely confirmed this. and yes, plain old Tesco's veggie oil is fine and works out about 50p a litre if you buy it in huge drums.

I'd love to use it but too scared to try in my Daihatsu Fourtrak as I'd be heartbroken if I broke it.

I probably wouldn't notice a change in the way it ran until it blew up!
