Has anyone used a combination noseband?

Just wondered if anyone on here has ever used a combination noseband and whether it made a difference or not? My boy has a very sensitive mouth but is still very strong and rather on his forehand when jumping. His flatwork is good, he has a lot of BD points but he puts a different head on when jumping. I can just about stop in rubber pelham. I have tried different bits but he doesnt like anything severe or with poll action. I just wondered if a change of noseband would help rather than bit him up. I have just bought one of these nosebands off ebay, am awaiting its arrival., and thought i would ask on here for any ideas!
 
we had exactly that problem with one of our eventers, regular combination too severe in the mouth e.g. mylers but we did find a version made by Nathe with one of their bendy mouth pieces and its worked a treat. the people at Bit World were fantastic at giving impartial advice and usually have an ad in the back of H&H etc.
 
My sister has the exact same problem too, she uses a myler combination and it has worked a treat. On the flat the horse goes in a snaffle and is light as a feather, put a jump up and YEEEEEEEHHHHAAAAAAA he is a totally different horse, she hoped he would settle down as he hadnt jumped much before he came to us but no luck so far and the combi is the only thing she can hold him in!!
 
Are you on about the Combi noseband or a Combi Bit?

I have my mare in a Combi noseband for jumping. I have the same problem as you. She has a very sensitive mouth but dosen't like alot in her mouth. I found her to be alot lighter in the hand and dosen't lean as much on landing as she used to.
 
A combi noseband. The one that does up above and below the bit and has metal connectors at the sides. Hope that makes sense. Sounds like it might be worth a try. Is that the one you use hollybell?

which way round does it go?? it look like one of those kinneton nosebands but it works the other way round and doeasnt pull on the nose when you pull on the bit like the kinneton.looks like its a variation of the drop...am i along the right lines if im making any sense!!!
 
Yes thats the one. If you want a pic of a horse wearing one I will put it on tomorrow and take a one. Really usefull noseband. My mare also has a Myler snaffle.
