im having really bad issues removing the glitter tattoo's that glamourati sold us at the equine fair. they said it was non toxic but iv tried everything to remove it! nail varnish remover, white spirit, alchohol, eye make up remover but its still there. iv tried clipping it off but its so close to the hairs it keeps making my horse kick out as they are in pain when clippers pull it to try and cut and it started bleeding where my horse keeps rubbing it! think im going to have to call my vet to sedate.

can someone please tell me how to remove it?

Soak cotton pads in baby oil and leave rgem on for ten minutes then rub them off. You might need to repeat a few times to get them all off

hi thank you for your reply. I tried oil but still no luck, im really worried as its caused such irritation to my boy as he has started kicking whenever you touch it. I was slightly dubious about purchasing it but the lady gave us a hard sell and that it was the worlds first and only of its kind. iv since found at that there are more companies so if they are willing to lie about that and miss sell, they have no care for the problems their products cause removing it. I wasn't allowed to compete in my BD class after they told me is was ok to wear as I cant remove the design. not happy :(

Have you emailed them to advise you are having such problems removing it? Personally I would hope they send some of their removal ointment! Have you tried Vaseline? That's quite good at least for soothing the irritated skin.

have messaged with no reply and I posted on their page which got removed :( apparently im not the only one who has had issues and had their posts removed :(

As a suggestion, I'd try 100% acetone. You can get it from Boots, but you have to ask for it as it's behind the pharmacy counter, it's used for removing gel nail varnish, and works a treat on glitter paint.

hi thank you, I don't really want to use such extreme measures as it was stated temporary. this cant be good to horses hair and skin. don't know how they can be allowed to sell such toxic products! the products are pretty but im not very impressed to say the least.

You are not the only one to have this problem. A horse arrived on our yard that had one and they are having the same trouble removing the glue, nothing has worked so far.

acetone is the same as nail varnish remover, also known as propanone. It's a solvent so should remove the glue, not sure why it wouldnt.

Does glamourati state what type of glue they use?

the lady was scary enough at the show and considering they removed my posts I don't think it will be a pleasant conversation. im not one for complaining usually but its really hurting my boy. thank you for advice being a man I didn't realise acetone was nail varnish remover oops, tried that also but made my horse really irritated.

hi I didn't realise there was two types the lady sold it saying it was removable and I just assumed it would come off. its been on weeks now but will have to dig the box out and have a look.

I don't know what these are but if it is something that is stuck on have you tried a razor blade (loose, not in a razor. You can get these in chemists) to scrape in line with the fur? Also if your horse is ok with noises have you tried a hair dryer to melt the glue and pull/rub it off? Obviously you will need to be careful not to burn him.

I didn't know what these were, after visiting the site, I do have to ask why? I'm not being rude or snotty, but why would anyone want to " tattoo" a horse/ pony? Just curious...

My daughters pony had one of these at arena uk at Halloween I put fairy liquid and left it to soak for a while then when it a bit more and gave it a really good go with a rubber curry comb and that got it off.

I asked their fb page on your behalf.. :p

The key to the removal of the glitter quarter marks is using warm water...as warm as is comfortable for your horse. It can take around 20 minutes to remove a 'medium' sized design so it is not unusual to think they are not coming off.

If you use a towel you can place it in the bucket of warm water and then lift it straight out and place it over the tattoo. Hold it there for a good half a minute. Repeat this a good 5 times until the tattoo and surrounding area is totally soaked.

The combination of the warmth and the wet will start to release the adhesive and then you can use the wet, warm towel to rub the tattoo off. It will start to peel and rub off in bits. Keep re-wetting the towel to continue to get off the remainder.

Some horses have more oil in their coats and the design can come off pretty quickly, others less so and can take more effort.

We do have a remover product which can help to remove stubborn remnants and we have a number of customers who use this to remove whole designs when they are not conveniently near warm water.

Should you continue to have problems after following the instructions, please do get back to us. Simply wetting and scrubbing will not remove the design, so soaking with warm water really is key.

Hope this helps! They were very polite. :)

LOL - I suspect after reading this thread, the rest of us won't be bothering.

If I had my old boy, same colour as the dark bay in the ad, I'd be tempted! They look fab, but I couldn't be bothered with the faff of removing them.
