If so, how sucessful did you find it?
Which form did you use, oil or fed supplement?
Am willing to try anything once if it has a shot at working - his rug controls it 100% in the field, I would just like to find something to make long hacks more confortable for him. Fly repellent keeps the midges at bay on short hacks but wears off fast. The Brewers yeast and marmite certainly made a difference last year, I just wondered if neem would help anymore.

Hi,
Used it a few years ago in a sort of balm form. Seemed to repel the bugs BUT it really was vile and the smell seemed to follow me around. Balm melted on a rather warm day and I accidentally tipped it all over myself. That was the end of that good idea.

I use neem in conjunction with other stuff. I feed it in herb form as well as other herbs. I have also found that rubbing diluted Oilatum into the mane and tail helps too. I have thrown the book at my pony. Finally (!) I seem to have found something that works. So long as I keep on top of it religiously.

I have also found that worming with Ivermectin every 4 months helps. Apparently there is a link to the hatching of the pin worm, which can cause the itching to start with and the rubs attract the culicoides (sp?) midge, and so starts the cycle...

Thought it was worth a go and seems to work for my Dartmoor, who has managed to keep his lovely long mane and tail - finally!
 
Try avon skin so soft in the green bottle either the moisturiser or the oil works ab fab sounds mad i know but google it you should get a lot of feed back. It works as a fly repellent on people too, even the dreaded scottish midge doesn't like it. i speak from experience as i get bitten to pieces.
