Out hacking the other day, my boy after three hours of behaving decided that after going through a stream to practice for Bramham 2008 and took a complete 'was' wanting to take off, jump two logs and spin, run backwards and generally think he is 3, not 16 and unretired after 18 months off for a stifle injury and spavin.
He came back into work in May, so this wasnt his first outing!!
He is fed nothing with starch or calories (fatty, laminitic)
have been advised to try nupafeed calmer.

Anyone used it with any success or not??

I have used it for a couple of years and find it excellent. Disagree with HH as I don't find iot expensive. It is £100 for 5 litres but that lasts nearly 6months so is about £17 a month which is reasonable.

I tried to take my horse off it last year as I though she had grown up and settled but noticed a difference and back to her hyper behavior within a few weeks. I know it doesn't work on all horses but certainly works for me.
 
My mare was different in a couple of weeks. It is a lot more expensive to start as you feed a loading dose and if you haven't noticed a difference within a month I would say you are not going to.
 
Not tried Nupafeed but So Kalm worked for our pony , I think its a case of trying different ones to see which work , Top spec was good too but you feed that everyday in powder form where as So Kalm is a paste that you give when needed before an event or hacking etc

Agree with Sarah-Jane. I took my younger horse off it and noticed his attention span dropped put him back on it and getting much more consistent work. Definitely helps. It is £89 for 5 ltrs but orders under £100 get charges postage.

On a daily doseage base it works out cheaper than many of the high profile market leaders found in your local tack shop/feed store but looks more expensive due to the initial outlay.
 
I just go and pick it up, the Nobles live just down the road. Lovely people who show county level and also hunt their show horses. They have helped me out with my youngster before too.
 
I found that Nupafeed worked for me. Cat could be very sharp if the mood took him, esp out hacking when he was a spooky spinner. Nupafeed stopped about 90 to 95% of that, & also stopped him getting the sillies at comps.
 
I would def recommened it too and also agree that the initial outlay makes you gulp a bit but even with a loading dose I have not even got half way through my 5 litre tub and that was bought 3 mths ago so is about the same cost as what I was using previously (NAF Magic).

Also agree that if it works its got to be a good thing and I thought even if it was more ££'s if it makes me enjoy my horse more its got to be worth it. Compared to costs of wasted entries when horse behaves like a loon thought it would be moeny well spent. You can syringe it down occassionally for max. effect - ie before a competition.

Speak to the nupafeed helpline re doses and advice - they were very thorough and what they said worked!
 
well, lets see, hes been on it for a week, had the loading dose, and onto daily maintenance (extra glug this morning, for gud measure)
we are off to the woods on Friday and back over the stream and up the bank where he decided he was at Bramham, so lets see if he is bit more sane, if not will anyone visit me in hospital?????????????
