Has anyone used these people for rug cleaning?

Yes my freinds livery yard did, they put together a lot of 20 rugs and sent them (they won't take less than 20 at a time).

Result:

They lost the rugs :( luckily the person who accidently picked them up, did return them and my freinds got their rugs back. - Lesson learnt, tag your rugs before you send them.

One of the rugs a Bucas sun shower came back looking like it had been tie-dyed :( the cleaning company blamed faulty material and stated that they did not exceed the temperature etc. this is now an on going battle for my freind between Bucas and Novasail.

On the positive side, once they had recovered their rugs...... all the other rugs (except the Bucas) were fine and cleaned for a fraction of the price they usually pay to have their rugs cleaned.

I bought a new rug at YHL and was chatting to the vendor. I complained that my rugs became less waterproof over the years and she advised to not clean them. The horse doesn't mind if the rug is clean or dirty. She said to give them a good brushing but not to wash a waterproof rug. I have to say that the new rug has been wonderful, completely rain proof.

I would wash stable rugs though. Some people put on a cotton under rug that can be regularly washed easily, rather than have to wash the whole rug. Good idea if the horse is clipped out.

Hmmn not the best advert in the world and callling rugs and numnahs blankets and saddle blankets is a bit um strange.

I clean rugs as a small business and use only quality products such Nikwax and Nuumed. Happy to say that I rarely have any rugs that have leaked or tye-died! This company don't advertise what products they use and I'm afraid cheap isn't always best.

They're originally a German company so it may be a translation issue that they're using the American terms.

However...

We didn't have the best experience using these guys in the end. To be fair to them, we were told that they were moving premises when the rugs were sent but still were led to only expect them to be away for three weeks. It must have been about three months before we saw them again and when we did, one Rhinegold fleece was absolutely ruined, the rest were covered in each others’ hair and to top it all off, they weren’t actually clean.

They seriously argued the toss with the livery on our yard who’d arranged it all with them and it took some persuading for them to take them back and do them again satisfactorily – which I think we only got because of how long we’d had to wait for them in the first place. Will be sorting my own out this year.

I've been using them for years and they clean all the rugs at my yard and we've never had any problems. The rugs always come back looking fantastic and they've never lost anything. I believe they will replace rugs if lost anyway. They also have passed some of my rugs on to another company (I thik a self empoyed lady) when they've been ripped and needed fixing and they look great. The price is really good too compared with places like Countrywide, for example. I would thoroughly recommend them! :)

I've used Horse and Hound for years to read posts and get good advice and tips and this was the first post where I actaully felt I could comment on so signed up. Sorry, didn't realise you had to be a member for years in order to join in on conversations. They have been great and so thought I was helping the girl who asked the question in the first place...

I would have used them but the bags and tags that they promised to send me never turned up and they never responded to my message. Hardly good business practice!!
Sounds like I had a lucky escape........

/\ me too.
I work from home whch helps keep my prices down, but not as low as theirs. They seem to specilise in sails for boats, and other outdoor grear, has their product been tested on horses, is it safe??
Like the above person I use nikwax products, and dont get any leaking rugs, the turnout rugs have a waterproof menbrane on the inside of the outer material, so you have to wash at low temperature 30/40 c (depends on what labels say) otherwise the menbrane is damaged, then it will leak. :)
