As per the title really! I've decided to keep working on my boy ans see where he as at by the end of the summer.

When jumping he is very excitable, and although I appreciate enthuasm (!) he is running on and flattening to the fences.

Currently ridden in a eggbut french link snaffle I feel like I need a bit more control but didn't want anything too severe, I was planning on using this on the snaffle rein, or does anyone think a baucher would be better?

I use a universal on bailey - He's totally a snaffle mouth, but when jumping, (particularly a second round) he can get a little 'over confident'. I use it on the bottom ring with the leather curb, which just limits the amount of rotation & poll pressure.

With this bit, I can keep a nice even light contact and b responds to a light check, rather than having to have a stronger contact (aka tug of war) with a snaffle.

Highly recommend it - it's a fab bit. not too severe at all, for best results use it on the bottom ring with the curb. There is not much point using it on the snaffle ring.

I use this bit on the mare i ride for jumping and hacking, really nice bit and she seems to understand it! I use it on the bottom ring (no curb). Always think its better to take a light contact that you can check them rather than pulling away and having sore arms the next day!!

She can be a bit tanky but this bit helps her listen a bit more.

Thanks guys for the advice

Going to try one from the bit bank as you can have it on trial for 30 days.
